Saree

Attending an Indian wedding ceremony and wondering if anyone has ordered a saree online and where from? I’m a plus size so how does that factor in?

Where are you located? You may be able to find an Indian or Middle Eastern market or ares where they could at least help fit you. The fit will be the most important and hardest part about shopping online....perhaps the person who's wedding you are attending could have some suggestions?

Have you done some research about wearing sarees ? They are not the easiest thing to master.

It might be easier to wear an Anarkali Suit. You also don't end up with any transparency around the middle.
Remember no black, white or red.

I can't answer your specific question - but I am in an indian wedding in two weeks (her mom got our Saree's for us in India) - and I am paying the hair/makeup artist to help dress me! (I've never worn Indian clothing or been to an indian wedding before). It may be worth looking into a different option. I am wearing a Choli set to the Sangeet, a Saree to the ceremony and a traditional (but colorful) a-line gown to the ceremony. The bride has assured me all are appropriate.

If you're in the NY/NJ area - check out Jackson Heights in Queens or Edison, NJ.

I've order from utsav and sarees.com. Order a prestitched sari and they stitch in the folds so you don't have to master the techniques of wearing one Smiley smile Being plus size only affects the blouse but they can customise it on both websites. But if you can go with a salwar- I find they are prettier and easier to sew thus come in faster!

I have ordered from utsav and had it customized too. It was lovely. There are also a lot of Saree rental places on line you can look at, not sure if they will have plus size but worth it.

Don't worry. You can wear a saree and look glamorous in it without worrying about your size.

If you're interested in knowing what Saree to wear in India festivals then please take a look here:
