I have found 2 sets of bridesmaid dresses that I love. But I can't decide which sets. And the problem is the fabrics. It's an outdoor wedding in July. They are all cocktail length. I have found 2 sets of bridesmaid dresses that I love. But I can't decide which sets. And the problem is the fabrics. It's an outdoor wedding in July. They are all cocktail length. But 2 of my bridesmaids have very wide hips, so I'm worried the chiffon might not be form flattering enough. But I've heard Satin wrinkles/stains too easily and are too hot for summer dresses.

I've already tried the dresses on the girls. They don't care. My mom prefers the chiffon, but I can't decide. I think the satin dresses look more formal, which might be good with my mini-castle venue and lace wedding dress; but would the chiffon be better with the GMs gray suits (we're not doing tuxes) and the summer garden feel?

Ladies, I'm stuck, which ones do you think are better?

Definitely chiffon. I'm just not a fan of satin at all. IMO, chiffon is much more universally flattering, cooler, flowy (if that's a real word), & wrinkle/crease resistent.

Satin having anything to do with stains doesn't make sense. Satin is a weave. You can weave wool satin, silk satin, rayon satin, cotton satin, whatever. The fiber is what determines the stainability. So don't worry about that.

I actually can't think of anything about the weave that'd make it more likely to wrinkle either. Linen wrinkles if you look at it funny. Wool smooths easily. Silk can pick up wrinkles of given a hard crinkle (like stuffed tightly into a duffel bag), but isn't too bad overall.

(Reference: well, I have owned 3 looms in my life. I ought to know a little something about weaving!)

I prefer the style of the satin dress but I prefer chiffon as a fabric... tough choice. Good Luck
