Save the Date Emails

Sophia, on February 28, 2012 at 10:25 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

I am considering sending Save the Dates over email and was wondering what some good websites were to find templates that I could purchase or use.

Evite.com definitely. I use it all the time for get togethers and actually used it for my rehearsal dinner.

I was thinking about doing this too bc I work with some excellent graphic artists and they can make a simple jpeg of whatever. But I may still have them print them. postage wouldnt be too awful

I agree with paperlesspost (I think they look better than evites). Also try cocodot.com

I did email save the dates...and sooo glad I did!! They were extremely well-received and it saved me a ton of money that I could spend elsewhere! I designed them myself on Adobe Illustrator, but I know that WW and The Knot have Save the Date applications/options. If you are hesitating to send them electronically, but don't want to break the bank, then Vistaprint is a great option!

Just a few pieces of advice if you are going to email them...

Don't send it as an attachment...physically put the image in the body of the email...you won't get caught in (as many) spam filters that way!

I put every email address in the BCC field. I know people can be funny about sharing their email address, so that way, everyone got the save the date, but they couldn't see anyone else's emails!

I would put directly on your save the date and wedding website home page to please sign the guest book so that we know you've visited...I wish I had put that on my save the dates...because otherwise it's hard to tell who you are reaching! I mainly just heard through word of mouth and would ask people if they got it...I didn't have anyone say they didn't!

Those that used paperless post, you do have to pay for that still don't you? How much did it cost?

Meghan, Paperless Post does have some free options, though you have to pay extra if you want to include a little digital envelope for the digital card to come in. You can opt out of that and send the cards for free. The envelopes cost 1 coin for the envelope and 1 coin for the envelope liner per save the date but I'm not sure how much coins cost.
