Save the Date Envelopes too small for US Mail

Yvonne, on November 13, 2015 at 12:15 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

So yeah, I just discovered that my adorable black square save the date envelopes are too small for U.S mail.

Should I just stick the square envelopes inside of another envelope? I need to mail these out by Monday! I'm already late with them.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

They are 4x4 inch envelopes

I would just tuck them into another "outer" envelope.

The minimum size for a square envelope is 5 inches x 5 inches (12.700 cm x 12.700 cm).

Put it in a rectangular envelope, because I've been charged more for square envelopes before. I think they prefer rectangles to go through their processing machines.

Yes, I've mailed square cards in regular envelopes to avoid the extra postage for square ones. Even if you got a larger square one, it would be higher postage.

I wouldn't put the black envelopes in a larger envelope, but that's just me. I'm guessing you've already addressed the smaller ones? I'd keep them and use them to give people gift cards at holidays, birthdays, etc (trying to not waste your investment). That does stink though.

Actually no I haven't addressed them or anything. I ordered the envelopes online. I got them here and thought wow those are kind of small. Hmmm I wonder if there are minimums on the size of an envelope? So I did the research and sure enough too small. I guess I could always order bigger ones. I just hate that I wasted money.

Can you send them back? I mean you would think the vendor would know they can't be mailed.

Eh it was on amazon but yeah they are usually good with returns. I'm thinking of doing that.
