Save the date location differs than invite!

Macy, on May 23, 2022 at 1:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hey all, I need some advice! So we had a venue in a big city, and it fell through Smiley sad I already ordered save the dates and can’t get a reprint. Our new venue is in the outskirts of that big city, but a different town name. Will this cause confusion? There aren’t any hotels in the area we are having our event, so maybe it will be good for those looking into accommodations (like car rental and hotels). It’s a 25 minute drive to the city. I wanted to get the save the dates out early because my side of the family is 1,000 miles away. Thank you in advance for your help!

I can’t imagine that it would be an issue. You will have the actual city listed on the invitation. Spread the info via word of mouth that guests need to rent vehicles or provide their own.

Are the zip codes different? Some cities near us are considered different cities but fall under the same zip code. Are any of the guests flying in as well? If the bigger city is where the airport is- in addition to hotels- then that seems like it would make sense.

You could also ask whoever you ordered from if they would at least give you a discount to print new save-the-dates. I'd also recommend having the new spot super apparent on your wedding website so guests are able to understand where the event will be.

The zips are different. The airport is also in the bigger city, so that’s why I’m leaning toward no reprint. I used canva, which I have learned to probably use a printing service that offers reprints if details change…lol had to learn the hard way! Thank you for the advice!

I would stick with what you have - but 200 save the dates is still a LOT of people!

If it won't change travel plans to those traveling to attend then it doesn't matter. So if they'd be flying in to the same airport, coming to the same train station, etc, then no need to reprint. Guests shouldn't book hotels until the venue is announced on the website/invite anyway!

Maybe just cross out the incorrect name or add an insert on regular paper that states the change of venue.

Do you have a wedding website? If you could make it super clear on there, that may help. I feel like people tend to go to the website to find out details before booking travel. I would personally reprint them to save any confusion.
