save the date photoshoot

futureMrsG, on December 19, 2017 at 11:51 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 20
We are planning to do our photoshoot in April of next year. I was just wondering if how did some of you do with their hair and make up? If you hired your official wedding make up artist by then or you guys just did it yourself? How about the outfits? Did you had to change? Any tips would be helpful. Thanks!

I got my makeup done from a pro in our local mall. We initially picked matching outfits, but scraped that idea once the day came .

I had my hair and makeup done at a salon by my home ( we did a wedding in Philadelphia but are from western MA). I was too stressed to try to do my own. I had two outfits for our engagement shoot. I changed in the castle we had our shoot at. My DH just changed his shirt for the second outfit.

We found a site that was unique and we thought would make for great pictures. We had a free engagement shoot so it was important that the site was free or inexpensive. We found a site that was completely free. Your engagement pictures shouldn't be an extravagant wedding cost like, say, catering, so feel free to go as affordable or extravagant as you wish!

We lived across the country from where we got married, so we didn't even use our wedding photographer for our e-pics, let alone the hair and MUA. I just did my own hair and makeup. We did do two outfits, one that was a little dressier and one that was more casual.

We did our engagement shoot in San Diego and our wedding is in LA so I didn't use my trial on this one. I did my hair myself (pretty good at the whole straightening and curling thing) and got my makeup done at sephora. We just planned out our outfits the week before, but he went out and bought a few things anyways. We didn't match our outfits exactly- we had two locations Balboa park and the beach. We changed our clothes (literally i changed my dress and he changed from a suit to jeans and a button down) on the street by the beach lol. Luckily secluded area (and we have little shame).

I had my hair and makeup done by then MUA and hairstylist I hired for my wedding. I struggle with applying eyeliner, so it was never an option to do my own. I had two outfits, I rented dresses from Rent the Runway. Our shoot was in Palos Verdes by the ocean trails.

My sister did my hair and makeup. But she's a licensed cosmetologist. The MUA I might use for my wedding wasn't available that day. We didn't match but we did wear colors to compliment each other. I would advise not matching completely. Also wear what you both feel comfortable in. I wore a nice cardigan and FH wore a Urban-esque hoody. Very comfortable, very us.

I didn't want comfort clothes, since all my clothes are ragged for work 🤣 I went fancy!

I just straightened my hair and did natural makeup. We wanted our save the dates to look like us, not staged. In regards to outfits, deifnitely make sure you have at least 2. Key for outfits is generally a casual and a semiformal. Also, if one of you are wearing color, have the other wear a natural color (brown, black, white, gray.) Our photographer let us have as many outfits and locations as possible so here’s our options.

also..... if you aren’t used to wearing heels... DONT! You will regret it and your pics will show your unhappiness.

I did my own hair and makeup. I didn't put thought into my outfit beforehand which I really should of, I ended up only having a few minutes to put something on and I regretted this.

I second the no heels thing unless you normally wear them! I tried to do heels at first but it made me so much taller than I'm used to being so all the interactions w/ FH ended up looking awkward since usually he is so much taller than me and all of the sudden I had gained a few inches Smiley xd Luckily I brought a pair of flats and once I changed into them things went much more smoothly.

I also brought a blanket from home for some sitting shots and I'm glad I did. Make sure you save some pics/poses you like on pinterest to show your photographer, it was helpful for us!

I had a woman come to my house to do my makeup because it was the same price as going to a salon. I did my own hair because the photos were done in the Boston harbor and knew the wind would end up ruining anything fancy I paid for. It was worth paying for the makeup as I usually just wear mascara on an ordinary day.

I would attach a photo but I can't figure out how to on this new mobile website!!

I had my hair and makeup trial before the photo session.

We had 2 outfits - one casual and one a bit more dressy but not formal attire.

I did my own makeup and hair. We had two outfits. Our photographer had already scouted a bunch of areas so it went SUPER fast.

I did my own normal hair and makeup routine. We also had 3 outfits. We were only going to have 2 but we ended up having some pictures taken at the bowling alley so we changed from our dress clothes to jeans for those!

I did my own hair and makeup. I chose a flowy skirt because I knew it would be windy!

We did two outfits. One more dressed up (my Avatar is our dressed up outfits). We also did a shorts and T-Shirts outfit (FH is very casual, I would go through life in cocktail attire if socially acceptable, so this was our compromise). We wore green t shirts and shorts for that one. I didn't have my hair done, but I was in need of a haircut, so I scheduled my haircut for that morning, so I had that fresh from the salon look. I did my own make up. I don't wear a ton of make-up normally, so I figured I would go with my more natural look and save getting all done up for the actual wedding day.

I got my hair blowdried but did my own makeup. In retrospect, I should have gotten my makeup done as well. I do a good job for everyday, but on camera I think I looked a little washed out. Some pro contouring would've made a big difference. We did not change outfits.
