Save The Date, & Wedding Invitations

When do I start sending out save the date? And also when do I send out the wedding invitations, is it five months before your wedding day to get a headcount.

Save-the-dates depend on if all your guests are close to the wedding location, or if many will be traveling from out of town. If everyone is local, send them 6 to 8 months before. If it's a destination wedding or people will have to travel, then 10 to 12 months before.

Invitations are sent 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding. Five months is way too early and you won't get an accurate head count because people change their minds or have other commitments come up.

Send invitations 6-8 weeks before your wedding. RSVPs should be set a month from your wedding date (unless it's an international destination wedding). Your caterer does not need a headcount before then.

You finalize your guest list before you book your venue and send them 6-12 months before the wedding.

Invites are sent 6-8 weeks before the wedding. There is no reason to send them earlier because guests will lose and forget the information and people think you will be B listing which is considered taboo in many social circles. Rsvps are due 3-4 weeks before the wedding with a 1 week buffer to contact any stragglers who forgot to reply so you can get an accurate headcount for the caterer.
Employers and schools do not give final schedules with requested time off before 4 weeks anyway.

Just echoing what other brides have said!!

Save-the-dates can be sent out 6-12 months before your wedding date, but invitations should only be mailed 6-8 weeks before your wedding date. 💌
