Save the dates and bridal appt

Tamia, on July 26, 2021 at 10:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

So fiancé and I have just ordered our save the dates! Our wedding is March 4th, 2023, so its a little less than 600 days away! Would it be too early to send them out now, or should we just wait and send them next year in March? Keep in mind technically our wedding is a "destination wedding" In that most people have to drive 3-4 hours to get to our venue, including ourselves. A handful of guests are coming from out of state (5-6). It is in the same state but all of our friends/family live on opposite sides of the state.

Also, when did you start scheduling bridal appointments? I have my first one scheduled for January 15th, 2022 but idk is that too soon? Next year from September on out to December I wont have time to shop for dresses as it will be too soon until the wedding and I'm pretty much booked up! So I'm thinking January is a good time to start but wanted to get opinions Smiley smile ) Maybe im just too excited and rushing everything lol

Oh girl, trust me I know what an exciting time this is!! But it is just WAY too soon to send Save the Dates right now. Unfortunately, they will just get lost, filed away, or forgotten. Ideally you want to send them around this time next year at the absolute earliest - that would be about 8 months ahead of time. Plus a lot can happen between now and then when it comes to your guest list - you’ll keep tweaking it and it would be a shame to send someone a STD now that maybe you aren’t as close with a year from now and would rather have someone else in their place. Give it time ❤️
P.S. I think January-22 sounds like the perfect time to start dress shopping!

I would at least wait until next March to send out the save the dates, that's more than enough time.

As far as bridal shopping, I think that January is a good time to start looking. It's only 14 months before your wedding which isn't horrible

10–12 months is typical to send STDs for a destination wedding. That's what I did for mine! As for dress shopping, definitely go at least 8 months out because gowns are taking a long time to ship these days with COVID

Way too early to send save the dates, but January 2022 is a perfect time to start dress shopping for a March 2023 wedding.

Don’t send save the dates until 12 months before the wedding at the earliest.

For dress appointments, January ‘22 is pretty early. Hold off until June ‘22.

Really? Ive heard so many brides say to start at least a year early. With alterations and things taking like 8 months to get completed. Also considering I wont have time to dress shop sept-dec (with holidays, other weddings, bachelorette party, and other arrangements) Im just nervous I wont find the dress I want with only 3 months? Will take this in mind though!

I’m getting married on March 11th 2023 and we’ll be sending save the dates next May! It is definitely way to early now! I’d day wedding dress shopping early spring as well.

You’re definitely rushing on save the dates, since you’re having a destination wedding send them out 10-12 months before your wedding - that is plenty of notice for people to start planning on coming, they don’t need almost 2 years to plan. Dress shopping, January 2022 is okay. I’m going early September 2021 for my October 2022 wedding. Wedding dresses can take like 8-10 months to come in. I already have my save the dates too, but I’m not sending them out until April or May 2022

I would wait until a year out to send save the dates, but I agree that January is an ideal time to start dress shopping. Most of the bridal salons I went to required a minimum of 9 months production time to place dress orders, and that was pre-Covid! I purchased my dress 12 months out and it was just enough time for production and alterations. If anything, I could have used more time, since my alterations weren't complete until a week before the wedding! Unless you're planning on buying a dress off the rack, I think that your timing of starting to look for a dress is perfect.

I'm getting married Sept 2022 and half our guests are going to have to fly in (**** miles away) and I don't plan on sending Save The Dates for awhile still. I'm debating between November 2021 (pre-holidays) or January 2022 (post holidays) because I don't want it to get lost or misplaced in the holiday craziness.

Also I bought my dress a couple weeks ago, so about 14 months beforehand, so I'd say there is nothing wrong with your January dress appointments.

I think it may be too early for your STDs but I got my dress 13 months out and will start alterations next month. I believe that's good starting date for dress shopping.

Save the dates are typically sent out 6-8 months before the wedding. 10 months for a destination wedding. Sending them out now, or even the beginning of next year is way too soon. People will lose them and forget.

It is suggested that you order your wedding gown a minimum of 10 months before your wedding to allow time for it to arrive and be altered. I think starting to shop around in January is fine, however, I would probably wait a few more months before purchasing. Especially since new spring lines will beginning coming our around March.

I agree that it might be too early to send the save-the-dates, but not too early to tell VIPs and family so that they can make a mental note of your date!
