Save the Dates and Invites destination wedding

Hi everyone,
For those who have had or are planning to have a destination wedding (the requires a passport)...what is the etiquette/protocol with timing of sending out save the dates and invitations? (I.e. 6 months out and 2 months out). Is it the same as regular wedding or should it be much sooner?

Save the dates can be sent out earlier, but the timeline for invites is about the same.

Save the dates sent out when your guest list is finalized 12 months out. Invites sent at standard 6-8 weeks.

I agree! You can send your save the dates out a year in advance, but I'd still send the wedding invitations at the normal time!
