Save the dates & invitations

Ashleymarie1027, on March 12, 2021 at 5:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So I am starting to make our save-the-dates for our wedding. The problem we have is that my fiance is currently in South Korea and gets back next February, with our wedding being that October. I was told that the save the dates should have pictures, and the invitations are more formal without pictures. But we haven't done our outdoor engagement pictures yet, and I'd like to send the save the dates out at the end of this year before he returns. We plan on having pictures taken after he gets back. Does anyone think it would look okay if we did non-pictured save-the-dates, and pictured invitations? This is what I prefer but I'd like to hear other opinions.

In my opinion, if your wedding is more causal, the option that you proposed is fine. If it's formal, I'd just go with no pictures on the save the date or the invitations.

Save the dates are typically sent 6-8 months in advance for local weddings and 8-12 months in advance for destination weddings, so you could wait to send them in February when he returns if you really want pictures to be included.

I think that's fine! Actually, lots of invitations give an option for photos. My best friend's save the dates didn't have photos on them, she was having a fall wedding so she had her friend (they're graphic designers) design her a save the date. But the websites I look at have both options and I see nothing wrong with no photos on the save the dates.

We decided no pictures on either! We didn't see the point in paying for pictures and instead have a lot of pictures of us on our wedding website! But you do what feels right!

Our save the dates didn’t have photos and neither did our invitations, we put them on the wedding website. You can do whatever you want or even put an older picture on there, it doesn’t have to be from a special engagement shoot. Most invitations don’t have pictures because it makes them less formal so if you do decide to do that I would do info on one side pic on the other , but there really aren’t any rules so don’t stress too much!

I think that’s perfectly fine/ our save the dates didn’t have pictures on them. They were mirrored heart magnets. Everyone loved them.

Our save the dates didn't have pictures and we skipped the engagement photos entirely. I agree with others that photos on the invitation usually allude to a more casual wedding, so I wouldn't do so if you are planning a more formal event. If it's not casual, I'm sure they would be super cute.

I’ve seen them done both ways. I mean, you don’t even need pictures for either of them. You do you boo boo, don’t stress the small stuff
