Save the Dates? Magnet? or Double-sided?

Raji, on January 9, 2022 at 9:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
Hi Brides to Be,
I’m getting ready to purchase our save the dates and can’t decide between double sided pictures vs magnets? Any recommendations?

Also, I’ll take any printers recommendations as well.
Thank you!! R&D

I'm always a fan of magnets! People can stick them on their fridge, while a paper is a little more likely to get lost among everything else.

Thanks!! I was thinking same. I have so many pictures to pick from that I wasn’t sure if I’m losing space, but I’d rather ppl keep them than get more pics.

I second magnet. I always out the save the dates I recieve on my fridge, so if I don't have to use a magnet clip (which we also use to close bags of chips, cereal, etc), it makes my life easier. I got my magnet save the dates from Vistaprint.

I say both! Why not vary them a bit depending on your guests?

For example: If your guest is an elderly grandparent, or is a parent of very young children, a magnet is a beautiful, useful item that is a reminder.

Magnets are a bit more expensive to both have made and to ship. The truth of the matter is, most people will not want a save-the-date or invitation on their fridge that isn't their own, forever. Most people usually throw out most wedding invitations at some point or another.

Paper invitations can be beautiful and cost effective, and a wonderful interruption from paper ads and bills in the mail.

I am personally using Zazzle and having the printed invitations slightly customized by Margherita M, the creator of BlueBird Invites:

I think the magnets are cute! Plus people always use them and it’s a nice way for your guest to remember the special day!

I thought about that as well to have certain people get printed vs magnet, but seemed like a lot. But knowing it may be more cost effective may be a good option to consider.

Thanks for sharing! I like how you are customizing, that’s a great idea. Nice personal touch.
I saw zazzle but haven’t looked into it much yet. I will take a look.

I love magnets! You can have your information printed on them and it’s multi functional because you can’t lose it anywhere. Generally people don’t look on the backside of wedding stationary so anything printed on the back of a postcard will be missed completely in many cases.

We did magnets! We just uploaded some of our favorite pictures from throughout our relationship and ordered them through Shutterfly! They were very affordable and my mom pointed out that most people are probably just going to stick a save the date on their fridge anyways!

I agree! Thanks! I was looking at one we received and we only looked at back because we are figuring our own Save the Date card out.

Thanks for your responses! I am getting the save the dates from Shutterfly. When we got engaged we had professional shots done so grabbed a few of those to pull together. I think I’m sticking to magnet as well. Smiley smile
