Save The Dates - Need to Have or Nice to Have?

In my opinion, this is a need to have. We have a few guests coming from different states and countries, so we would like them to know when to take off and make arrangments.

Yes! In our case it'll be a destination wedding for all of our guests. Info was sent out early to help our guests plan their trip.

It definitely depends on the situation of every couple. For me, it was nice to have rather than a need. It gave a friendly heads up to our guests, that "hey, don't be busy for this day. We want you there." So it was nice. Plus I researched heavily how to keep the cost down and made decisions on who should receive one versus them waiting for the actual invitations. In the end, my fiance and I luckily found a low cost Save the Date magnet on Etsy (about 0.30 each) with a very friendly seller who customized to our preference and went above and beyond expectation in creating our magnet.

Depending if you have a lot of out of town guest, weekday wedding, or holiday wedding then they are a need to have. If everything is local, weekend, random day of the year then probably just nice to have.

Nice to have, but I waited too late and at the point where invitations need to go out pronto!

Not a necessity unless you have out of town guests, which is most weddings these days, lol.

Would have been nice to have them but we chose not to because our invitations will have our picture on them.

Totally depends. If it's on/near a holiday, really soon, or a destination wedding, then I think it's a need to have. Otherwise it's not necessary. I had them though. We're having a small wedding (65-70 people) so everyone is super important to us, and we want them to have as much warning as possible!

Need to have! That way our guest have enough time to get the day off.

Need to have! The wedding is in May right after Memorial day so we wanted to make sure everyone still made plans for the following weekend too.

Nice to have! We didn’t have them to try and same some money to put somewhere else. It’s not traditional to have them in Hispanic culture (at least for us). Sometimes I wish we would have, but then again all the important family members who would have benefitted from them, we called directly to let them know the date of the wedding

Its nice to have, we did them because we have family coming from far away & we sent them out far in advance

Nice to have they are basically just a pre-invitation.
