Save the Dates

Kalani, on January 24, 2021 at 10:47 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
We are getting Married, in July of 2022. We still haven’t found that one venue, but In hopes of finding it soon 🤞🏽
I was wondering when should we definitely start sending out the Save the Dates? I’m worried about getting them out to late, or is it to early especially since we don’t have a venue yet.

I'd wait til you had your venue reserved for a specific day and send them like 6 months to a year out. You have plenty of time!

I’d send them once I had a venue with a date locked in. But not before the one year mark.

You will have to wait until you have a venue. You don't actually have a wedding date until a venue is secured. A lot of weddings have been postponed until 2021 and 2022 so finding a venue on one specific date might not be very easy. Save the dates also don't need to be sent out until about 8 months prior to the wedding.

Hello from another July 2022 bride! Save The Dates are normally sent out 6-8 months ahead of time, or 8-12 months in advance for a destination wedding. I would wait to send them out until July or August this year at the earliest, but I think you could even wait until the end of 2021 to send them. With so many weddings being postponed to 2022 due to COVID, it couldn't hurt to send them out this summer, just to get the date on your guests' calendars sooner. However, I wouldn't send them too soon, otherwise your guests may lose track of them. Save The Date magnets are often helpful, since they can be stuck on the fridge and not lost in a pile of papers. I would definitely wait to send them until you have a venue booked.

Typically you send them out around the 9 month mark. You definitely have to book that venue before you even order the STD’s.

If you don't have a venue, then you don't yet have a date. Wait until you have your venue locked in and then you have your date! I'd send them around 8-10 months for a regular wedding or around 1 year in advance for a destination wedding.

You definitely need to have a venue booked to secure your date before sending out save the dates. I'm getting married in June of 2021 and am now regretting sending save the dates at all because I'm thinking we are going to have to cut the guest list due to covid. If we hadn't sent save the dates, we wouldn't have so many people expecting to be able to attend and wouldn't have to potentially uninvite people. It's so stressful!

Definitely pick your venue first because you usually put the city and state on the Save the date of where the ceremony will be.

There’s a checklist with a time line on this app that’s super helpful with when to have things completed by. I would def wait until you find a venue. Typically you put the date and location on the STD. A venue may not have the date you have your mind set on so you may have to decide on another date or location. We’re getting married in September and sending our STD around Feb/March.

Send them out when you have the venue and guest list 100% set in stone because they cannot be revoked. 6-10 months before the wedding is ideal. It gives guests ample time schedule time off and make travel arrangements

Like other people have said, make sure you get the guest list nailed down first, because once you send them out, you can't take them back. With that being said, it's definitely better to send them out earlier rather than later, especially since lockdowns have made things harder. Also, you should 100% have a venue picked out before sending out any wedding stationary. This timeline says 6-12 months for save the dates, but I would recommend 9-12 months: https://www.magnetstreet.com/wedding-stationery-timeline

When we got married I sent my save the dates out 8 months prior my wedding day, and then the invitations out 3 months prior.
