Save the dates

AB, on June 19, 2021 at 12:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi folks! I’m sure someone has asked, everyone has unique circumstances for sending early, but I figured I’d ask too! Smiley smile our wedding is September 3 2022, aka Labor Day weekend. Something else to know is our guests are mostly out of state (we are in Wyoming) our guests will be coming from GA, CO, MT, OK, and MS. So my question is when should I send out save the dates considering that people make plans and reserve for Labor Day weekend very early? Thanks all and hope this question helps another bride out!!

Our wedding is 5/20/22 and I'll be sending STDs this July. I'll have people coming from California, Michigan, Illinois (2 families), Oregon, and Louisiana. I wanna give them time to watch flight prices.

    6-8 months before your wedding

I would send them 9-10 months out, so they have time to watch flight prices like Nisha said and of course, they would have more time to make arrangements.

Because it’s a holiday weekend, I would send them out at 12 months before the wedding when you have all your details locked (guest list, venue, etc) so guests can prepare. However no one will know before 4 weeks if they can attend or not for sure.

I agree completely about the STD! However, with my job, as soon as you have PTO you can use it, and my schedule is the same every day of Spring and I make my own in the Fall. So if I got a wedding invitation for a date even 10-12 weeks away, I would RSVP knowing I have time off and can use it freely. So some jobs are a bit different in terms of taking time off and their schedules. In my old job I requested off for a vacation I was taking 3 months in advance and it was approved the same day. So if all depends on the job.

Thanks everyone!! This is all great advice, I am figuring that those who need the heads up (family who is long distance, don’t talk all the time) would like an early heads up. If they don’t have to worry about planning a schedule so far out they can discard, they will be receiving an invite per the usual time 🙂 this was all so helpful!
