I just sent out save the dates . Do people usually message you if they received them ? What’s the protocol?

People do not typically reach out to say they got them. It's just a courtesy notice of what your wedding date will be, so that they can keep that date open. There is no action required from guests at that time. You'll usually only hear from guests about your wedding when you send invitations and ask them to RSVP.

We've sent our STDs earlier than usual, since for most of our guests this is going to be a destination wedding, and a few called or messaged us that they received them and that they're already pumped for the party, and one couple called to let us know that they won't be able to attend. But other than that, nothing. There is no protocol really, since it's just a courtesy notice.

Close friends had messaged us to tell us how excited they were but that’s it. It’s not very usual to get something from guests regarding the save the dates

No standard response for this. I had some people tell me they had gotten it, that they were excited, etc.

No guests typically don't respond or say anything after they received it.

A few of our close friends/family members messaged us but I wasn't expecting anyone too

So if someone says they can’t come after you sent the save the date, out of curiosity, will you still send an invite in case things change?

No I don't think so... It's pretty clear that they can't come (their baby is due to be born on the same day, so they won't be able to fly). Sending an invitation would - to me - somehow seem like asking for gifts? I don't know, it just seems pointless.

Our save the dates included a card with the link to our website where we will have people RSVP but are still sending out formal invites for RSVPs.
