Congrats!! I didn’t make my own save the dates, I got a Groupon for 40 photo cards from Photo Affections and I was not disappointed! It saved me a ton of money and the selections were great. They actually have the groupon going right now!! Sorry, I know that doesn’t exactly answer the question but the deal was so good I’m telling the world 😂

I used Zazzle.com they have 60% off often and that's when I purchased ours. I got 100 invites, 100 RSVP, and 100 details card for $160.

    Woohoo! Congrats!

It's probably more cost-effective (and definitely more time-effective) to order your save the dates than to make them yourself. Like Mrs. Cwik said, Groupon is great, so keep an eye out for deals there! I've heard Zola and Shutterfly are good places to look as well.

I got engaged this past October and our wedding is this coming July, so I'll be sending out save the dates ASAP.

I think the rule of thumb is to send them out 8-12 months in advanced if you have any out-of-town guests, and 4 months in advance for local guests. It also depends on when the wedding is. If it's during a common holiday time, I'd recommend getting them out sooner rather than later so people know not to book any vacations during that time.

Congrats on setting a date! We designed our Save the Dates through Shutterfly and designed our invitations through Zazzle. If you're thinking of doing them yourself, I would look at templates through Etsy. I printed the envelopes for our invitations with a template from Etsy that I bought for $3.00! It was super easy and way cheaper than paying for printed envelopes when plain white ones were already included. I probably would've printed our own had I known about all the options Etsy has!

Save the Dates are generally sent 6-8 months before the wedding or up to a year in advance if you're having a destination wedding. We planned on sending ours out at 6 months, but moved our wedding date up right after ordering so they actually ended up going out at 4 months Smiley xd

I made my own! I waited till Vistaprint's Black Friday 60% off sale. To keep the cost low, I made them 4x6 postcards. Only downside is minimum order is 50pcs when our guest list is 36, but oh well. It came to $8.31 for all 50pcs. I also designed and ordered my invites at the same time, same amount but 5x7 double sided postcards (these'll go in envelopes though).

That being said I did it this way because I'm a graphic designer, so completely used to making this sort of stuff. That and our wedding is rather casual, so our stationary could be laid back.

So, the plus side to the save the date part and kinda the invitation part, my mom has offered to do the wedding invites with her cricut. I just have to get the paper and design. Other than that, I am contemplating whether or not I should wait until Jan 2020 since our wedding will be Feb 2021 for the Save the Dates. Plus we are in the midst of house hunting as well, so the early I send them out will be the earlier we solidify when the wedding will occur. With as odd as that may come off. I am deciding where would be better. I am absolutely loving the Groupon Idea! Which I will 100% be looking into.

I am also in the arts and I photoshop and also do a lot of photography so, that's where I wanted to kinda incorporate that aspect of my knowledge, because I am not exactly working in that field so it would be nice to show off that talent lol.

My other thing I was thinking was going and printing at walmart, but I am not 100% because I have had good success but also bad with them.

I went with Vistaprint because I've printed with them before and really dig that they always have some sort of coupon or sale going on. And I totally get that, I wanted my talents to be seen specifically in something and I felt the stationary was that thing. I personally very much recommend doing it yourself.

We made ours through Shutterfly. They turned out great! We sent them out 6 months before our wedding date. STD’s are typically sent out 6-8 months before your wedding. Sometimes 10 if it’s a destination wedding.

We created our own design in Microsoft then uploaded the image to VistaPrint to have them printed. My husband created them then email me the finished product to upload and have printed.

I used a template from Etsy for a vellum sheet and then printed out our engagement shoot picture we took, putting the vellum sheet on top.

Congratulations! We made our own save the dates at Walgreens! I loved how they turned out! Since most of our guest are coming from.out of town I sent them out about 10 months ahead of time. If most of our guest were local I probably wouldve waited until about 6 months out. Our wedding will be pretty casual and I want to include our children in as many things as possible since we're blending families!

This Etsy is great for buying a nice design for cheap (with free customization). You can then print at home or professionally for cheap too!
