Courtney, on June 28, 2021 at 9:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14
Hi!!! Is it tacky to send the Save The Dates via email (Evite) to save money??? Do you have any other suggestions on how to send them out on a budget? Thank you!!!

We made and sent them as a postcard (on Zazzle) and postcard stamps are much cheaper, too!

It’s definitely not tacky, as long as your guests are comfortable with email/online invites

It’s not inappropriate at all to send save the dates via email. Just make sure you have addresses for everyone. Another option is to relay the info over the phone as people used to do in decades past.

It is not tacky!! Its so cost efficient! Plus, you don't have to wait days/weeks waiting if they received it in the mail or not.

Saves are a recent invention, as commercial items. Until recently, and for many people, still, any informal method, sent to all, or sent to just a few who need advance info, will do. This means phone call, email, notecard enclosed with a holiday card, post card, or straight out telling them is fine.

Not tacky! We did it for our reschedule. The originals were 4x6 photos. USPS sends them as postcards

Not tacky at all! Just keep in mind certain people might not have access or know how to receive something electronic, so you should send those people a hard copy! I would send hard copies of the invites tho! I’m doing an online rsvp on my wedding website to help save that stamp for paper rsvps!

I agree that it’s totally fine to do that. We printed postcards from Vista Print and are mailing them out that way. As another poster mentioned post card stamps are cheaper.

Totally find to send save the dates that way! Just be mindful that not all guests may be able to access it, or use an email so for those people I'd send a hard copy.

We sent ours out in the mail, and used the postcard layout from Minted. It was way cheaper than the normal ones in an envelope.

We are doing E-save the date for all of the guests of our generation, since we know that they check their email, and wouldn’t care if we send it electronically. And we ordered 15 physical ones for the older generation like, parents, aunts, and uncles...etc.

We're thinking of doing an online save the date for our younger guests - and a hard copy for those that are on the older side/not tech savy! But, NO! It's totally NOT tacky!

I maybe a little biased here because I’m against printing if possible. In my opinion, it is not tacky. All my invites are electronic. If your guests check their emails regularly, I say, go for it.
