Say Yes To The Dress?

Free, on October 22, 2019 at 8:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
Okay I could use some advice on my wedding dress selection. My fiance and I are paying for our entire wedding ourselves, needless to say we are very budget conscious throughout our wedding planning process. So I found a clearance Zac Posen dress for close to nothing. It is beautiful but I dont love it as it needs to be jazzy up to fit my style. Alternatively, I found a Demetrios gown that is the most magnificent thing Ive seen but this dress is over $1600. Would you go for the okay budget friendly dress or the pricey knockout gown?

Well what can your budget afford? Have you looked on still white for the knock out gown maybe you can get it cheaper. Is there something else you can cut out to replace the cost of the expensive dress? I went with a knock out gown because it fit in our budget. We also opted for a cheaper dj and went without a photo booth to save some money. Only you can answer this question because you are the one paying for it. Good luck!

During the planning process i originally wanted to go with a budget friendly gown. I wound up with the pricy knockout. Its your only day where youll be the center of attention. You wanna feel your absolute best. Sure its only one day but the pictures and the memories are a lifetime.😁

Maybe you can try to remake it with anomalie. They usually a little cheaper and do it customizable or keep looking for something that fits your budget

What was your original budget? I set a budget of $1500 for my dress. While dress shopping, the consultant put me in a dress out of budget (still mad about that) and I fell in love. It ended up being $1850, but after crunching numbers I was able to get my flowers for $1000 instead of $1400. If you can cut in other areas, it could work. Just depends on what your budget is.

Wow, you found the dress for $3,000 less? What a steal!! The knockout dress is apart of the 2020 collection so they were just release. I have not seen any brides wear the dress yet.

My original dress budget was no more than $1000. To me it doesn't make sense to splurge on a dress I'll never wear again. Part of the reason why I am beating myself up at entertaining the though of purchasing a $1600 gown, But I've never seen anything like it. I may have to cut out the photo booth or dancing on a cloud to be able to justify it.

That was my mindset too. That's why I wasn't trying dresses on over my budget The consultant who was supposed to be making sure this didn't happen, failed to do her job SO here we are. In my head, you'll wear the dress in all the photos that you'll look at for the rest of your life. Realistically, the photo booth and flowers (in my case) won't matter that much 10 years down the road.

Wow ! I would possibly cut the dancing on a cloud. I would get the knock out dress! Its beautiful and unique. I agree with pp you don;t want to regret it. Plus I would personally feel anxiety with fog machine chemicals going on any dress

Edit: If not you have sooo much time to look at other boutiques and find other steals. Maybe keep looking around to see what else you can find? Looks like your wedding is in Oct 2020 so is mine and I am not starting to look till like Jan maayyybe Dec lol

I'd do the budget one and find ways to make it work. Such as adding a belt or a cape or accessories

I would probably buy the budget friendly dress, and try to dress it up to my taste. Add a blingy belt, or some jazzy straps. Whatever it needs to make it more your style. I would not spend $1600 on a dress that you will wear once.

I'm still bothered that I spent $800!! But I wanted a real wedding gown, and that's what I got.

Have you tried on the Demetrios gown? Maybe because I was a 40+ bride but I would have scrimped someplace else to get a dress I lived and felt fabulous in.

When considering the dress price, also please consider the cost of alterations. I just went and got my quote...whoa. It's a lot and I'm willing to pay because I know this lady knows what shes doing. I just don't trust my dress with anyone. I talked with another lady and her flat rate starts at $500. If you are on a tight budget, that's another hidden cost of the dress. Dhe said some dresses unfortunately need alterations that cost nearly as much as three dress itself. I think if you could find your dress on discount somewhere else then that would be a great option!! Good luck. Whatever you get, you should feel beautiful in it.
