sc Ceremony and Reception sites - Mb/pawleys Island/murrells Inlet

Courtney, on August 15, 2019 at 3:42 PM Posted in South Carolina Planning 0 7
Hi y'all! I am planning a Spring 2020 wedding. This is both my Fiancé and my second marriages, and we are planning a smaller wedding, about 75-100 people. We want to get married and have the reception at the same location ideally under oak trees with Spanish moss, near a marsh, ocean or water of some kind. We are on a budget, and trying to be smart about this. Does anyone have any ideas for venues? Alternative/unique ideas?

Someone suggested renting a beach house and having the wedding there. Does anyone have any experience with that? All suggestions/advice is welcome!

Not in your area, but we are renting a beach house for our ceremony and reception. The idea came to us after friends did the same. It can be difficult to find one that accepts events, and even harder to find something that can accommodate more than 50 people, but that was fine by us anyway. What I love is we can always move inside if we need to, but have an incredible outdoor space leading out to the water which we intend to utilize as much as possible. I don't really have any other suggestions since I don't know your area, but I wish you luck in your planning.

That was suggested to me too! I am thinking about it, and not trying to find one that would accommodate that many to stay, but most guests are in the area, so they could just show up as they would for any other wedding. How did you find a rental that you could have a wedding out? I just started trying to figure that out, and advice would be helpful!

We're only rooming 5 adults at our venue, the 50 limit is for actual occupancy. One of the venues we considered could only hold 22 due to a 2nd floor deck and insurance requirements. I originally started with the local realtors that handle rentals in our tourist area but ended up finding a better deal through Air BnB. I have never used it before but the venue has great revues and we have already checked out the house since it's not far from us. For us this just made the most sense. I also recommend reading all the fine print. The realtors here charge anywhere from $1500 to $2000 just to have an event, that is not a deposit but in addition to the standard rental cost. Some places here also won't rent less than one week. It took months to find the right one for us.

We are getting married at pawleys plantation! Located right In Pawley’s island! It’s so beautiful with all the oak trees and Spanish moss! It’s on the marsh walk and not far from the ocean! It’s pretty reasonably priced (I think). And we’re having our ceremony and reception all there!

That place is super pretty! It is a little higher per person than we want to spend though, and the venue cost is a bit much based on it most likely being 50 to 75 realistically

Thompson Family Farm at Bucksville is in Conway and they have a pretty wooded venue, at least from what I see in the photos on here. I think it would be a cute place for a rustic wedding if that's your sort of thing Smiley smile

That is literally a few developments over from where my parents live! It is very pretty. Their wedding venue site is on the Waccamaw river more near downtown Conway. I didn't really want Conway, but I am starting to consider it, it seems to be more affordable….
