Scavenger hunt ideas!

Christine Lynn, on August 21, 2017 at 10:09 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 34

For my bachelorette party we've decided to do a scavenger hunt while we go to a local strip of bars nearby. We will be split into a group of 3-4 members and will have a list of slightly crazy, some harmless tasks to complete with photo/video evidence. I need your help with more ideas!

So far I've gathered:

-group photo with another bachelorette party

-find a guy with same name as groom (show proof)

-kiss bartender on cheek

-penis shot from one of the bars on the strip

-find guy with killer mustache and take picture with

-selfie with an animal

-dancing on stage

-video of the worst dancer you see

-sing karaoke

-video of you serenading someone you don't know

Could really use a few more ideas!

That sounds like plenty. I personally would not like to play this game, hopefully your girls do

Kay, I'm glad you said it. I wouldn't want to play photograph a random penis, kiss the bartender, ask partying guys for proof of their first names, dance on stage, or find the stranger with the killer mustache and take a picture with him. Maybe it's because I study and write about true crime in another life, but I am not comfortable with young, dressed and made-up women (even in teams) looking for some of this stuff while alcohol is involved. Maybe it's the mom in me...

@Rachel - I'm not a mom...but I'm an adult woman...and if this was an activity at any bachelorette party I was invited to, I would leave. Period, full stop.

I'm especially uncomfortable with the penis shot and requiring ID of someone with the same name as the groom (photographing someone's ID just makes me super uncomfortable).

Of course, the only bachelorette-party scavenger hunt I've ever been on was my sister's--an exceptionally strong woman who married an equally strong partner...we sent her all over town doing things that would make her a "good [stereotypical] wife," like grocery shopping and picking out house decor. We ended up at the Episcopal church with a priest friend "being lectured" about the passages in the New Testament about women remaining quiet in church (both my sister and BIL were on their way to Div school at the time). So maybe I'm just a killjoy.

    Edited: Wording.

Edited Again: Totally guilty of interpreting "penis shot" as a photo. I guess if it's an actual liquor shot it's not quite as bad.

    Can you explain "penis shot"?

@Olivia, that's what I was thinking, shot as in drink, not shot as in picture. However, people also interpreted it as shot as in picture. I'm hoping that's not true.

I seem to be the odd one out, but my BMs did something similar for my bach and I had a blast. My tasks were harmless though, and it was a small list. The "worst" thing I had to do was get someone to buy the group a shot. Which happened, but I had nothing to do it lol. You know your friend and whether or not she would like it. I would be careful with things like the penis shot and kissing another man (even if it was on the cheek). No amount of alcohol would make me do anything like that.

ETA: Whoops, just reread this and you're the bride, I was thinking this was for someone else. Still, while I think some of your list looks fun, it's a little much, and inappropriate for my taste. But that's just my opinion.

The penis shot is literally a shot in a little penis type squirter thing. Harmless. And I'm not doing a "penis themed party" so I figured incorporating it that way would be ok. And my friends are pretty wild so this is actually very appropriate for some of the things they'd suggest. If my bridesmaids didn't suggest a game like this to distract from drinking, they'd all be sloppy, needing carried home drunks.

We are doing a winery tour before going down to the bars, just figured since we won't be playing any games the whole day/night we could do something while at the bars.

So you don't want opinions then. Unfortunately when you post on a board like this, people can reply to any aspect of the content.

This sounds like a fun game for a younger crowd. (early 20s) This would never fly with my friends. My bridesmaids actually said, 'we're not going to do any stupid games or wear matching t-shirts or sashes for the bachelorette, ok?" We're old and crabby. ETA: if you're all set on a scavenger hunt then keep the focus on finding things not people. (Get a picture in front of the oldest building in town versus get a picture with someone who has a moustache) Most people want to be left alone when they go out and not surrounded by total strangers screeching like howler monkeys trying to take a picture of them. It doesn't make it ok or less annoying because one of them is getting married.

I have been the bartender who has seen and heard how these things go down, and take it from me, if you are going out on a night that is a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and you are trying to take up more of your bartendender's time than just to grab your drinks, you better tip extremely well for their time.

I think 10 is plenty. I think this is such a know your crowd thing, I would never do this in 100 years but if you have the party type crowd it could work out.

I don't like the fact that you and your friends will be split up the whole night, so some people get to hang with you and no one else does? We did this at my friend's bachelorette party and it didn't really make it any more fun and we were all together

Who said anything about me not wanting opinions @jacks? I haven't complained or argued once? I'm taking everyone's thoughts in.

We are a younger crowd, 25 and under.

We are doing a 4 hour wine tour before we go to the bars and the scavenger hunt will only be about an hour process, not the whole night. So us being separated wouldn't be very long.

I've eliminated the few that some have said are a bit much.

@jessiejv nothing on my list takes up a bartenders time. And I eliminated the kiss.

80% of the people who go to these bars are closer to our age. It attracts the young crowd, there's vacation homes that are usually taken by large groups of younger party guys/girls.
