Scented candles?

Rogue Bride, on May 7, 2013 at 9:18 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

I know that people can be particular about scents, but could I do an ocean-scented votive or two on each table? It's not a very intrusive scent, in my opinion, and perfect for a beach themed wedding.

I have a very sensitive nose and the smell of the beach is my absolute favorite.

How many tables? one candle in a room may not be much of a scent but 10 or 20 may be....

maybe just a few scented not all

personally I would skip the scent

6-8 tables, maybe one or two votives per table

I am extremely sensitive to scented candles, lit or unlit. If I am around them, I get an instant headache that will not go away for hours. While maybe extreme, if I was a guest at a wedding that used scented candles in their decor, I would have to leave.

So obviously with that said, I would skip any scented ones.

I would skip, too, particularly since people will be eating. You don't want to risk guests leaving early.

I would skip them, too. I get scent triggered migraines and most candles tend to give me headaches. Even though it may be subtle to you it might not be for some of your other guests.

6-16 scented candles in one enclosed space, along with food smells, perfume etc could be crazy, if you are doing a sweetheart or head table maybe you could have the scented ones in front of just you guys if it means that much to you

Wow, that's a shame. I have a sensitive nose, but I never get headaches or anything. I used to work about six feet from a Yankee Candle display.

I wouldn't want people to be bothered by them. Oh well. Just an idea.

Keep in mind that scented candles can also change the taste of food, which is another reason that they are discouraged in centerpieces. If you have to have the scented candle, can you put a few in the bathrooms?

I would err on the side of caution and go scent-less

It's a great idea, but unscented. You'd be amazed at how many scent sensitive people you'll have. Plus they'll already be battling the war of the perfumes and colognes Smiley laugh

I would skip the scented candles, especially if you have food on the table. This is why restaurants only use unscented candles. Maybe try putting scented ones in bathrooms or in the entrance way? Here's a good site for unscented candles:
