I saw this suggested by a wedding magazine years ago and thought it was cool. While it is a great idea in theory (plus the nostalgia of the Jane Austen/WW2 era scented love letters) it could backfire because so many people are sensitive to perfumes. You can do a test batch (there are tutorials online) to try out with your VIPs and go from there. Keep us updated.

Love this! Such a sweet, unique touch Smiley smile
As PP mention, some people can be incredibly sensitive to smells/perfumes, so I would make sure it was a very light, subtle scent. Not drenched in it.

I am sure with your job you have heard all of the woes people have with perfumes! If none of your VIP's have severe allergies, I would say go for it. Agree with pp to keep it light and maybe do a test batch of letters to friends/family. Sounds like a very fun idea

This reminds me of that scene in Grease where the girl scents her letters before mailing them to her guy. It is a little extra, but I love the idea, I almost want to steal it myself! I think it's cute.

Also, from experience a single spray of scent will be very faint after a few days. As long as you're not drenching the invitations I imagine it will be very subtle.

It is no dumb. But it is unkind to my 7, 12, and 14 year old and I, or people like us, whose eyes will water and itch and nose run not only at scented mail , but at other mail that sat with it in the box for a day or two. Some of which we want to keep. When I was about 9 to 12 in the early 90's, It was practically a wrestling match to get either my younger sister or I into any store, because of the experience of many perfume companies spraying people just after they entered. We had two ambulance riides and overnight stays due to serious allergic reactions. And would have to leave movies and restaurants from the buildup. So now every time someone scents mail, or spa es, I have a dread reaction and panic for my little ones.
Scent your own things, or things given 1 to 1 directly, any time. But please spare those of us including postal workers, who have scent allergies.

I LOVE THIS IDEA! as long as the scents aren’t too strong I think it’s so incredibly adorable to open up a wedding invitation and have a particular scent on it.

    PLEASE DO NOT.

SO many people have allergies and reactions to scents.

DH and I both react VERY poorly to perfumes, scented soaps/lotions, and even those ads in magazines.

If we received an invitation like this, it would not only go in the trash, the trash would be taken out immediately. We *might* remember to take a picture... but if DH was having a bad reaction, I doubt I would remember.

I would not enjoy receiving a scented invitation AT ALL. Like other posters, I cannot stand scented advertisements or magazine inserts. I can see why this might appeal to you as the sender, but since you have no way of knowing how every single one of your guests feels about artificial scents, then I don't actually see any reason to do this.
