Scrapbook Guest Book?

Araceli, on July 10, 2016 at 10:26 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

I found on Pinterest a Scrapbook idea for a guest book. You leave a polaroid camera, extra film, some markers, glue sticks, and a scrapbook on a table. Guests come in, take a selfie polaroid picture and glue it onto a page of the scrapbook and then sign their names or can write a little message in it. I absolutely loved this idea because it's different and your guests can be fun and creative with it, but some things concerned me:

- guests taking more than 1 picture

- cost of tons of extra film (especially if we allow guests to take 2 - 1 for them and 1 for us)

- possible disappearance of polaroid camera

- not much participation from guests (I have a lot of older Hispanic guests on my list that are old-fashioned)

Has anyone been to a wedding with this type of scrapbook or has anyone had this idea and how did it turn out? I really want to try for it but my fiance thinks it'll stress me out too much.

I did one, it would be very pricey. I ended up finding a vendor that offered that exact service! 150 pictures, scrapbook, and attendant for 3 hours.

I don't want to do arts and crafts when I go to a wedding. I'd end up gluing my fingers together or something.

I will be doing this but with a photobooth. Go in, take photos, print some, glue one in guestbook and write a message! It will be fun to look at all the pictures.

I was at a wedding where they did this. Honestly not too many people used it - really only the 20 yr olds. I thought it was cute though, they had some props too

We're doing this for our guest book. I have a poloroid camera and have started ordering the film. I'm ordering an excessive amount of film just in case people want to take multiple photos. I think it will be fun and with my crowd/guests I think it will be a hit. Instead of glue sticks I'll be getting double sided tape. I'm excited about it!

ETA: I'm slowly ordering film over the next year so it's not all in one big order. Just ordered my first batch of 60 pictures for $35 on Amazon. I'll be hoping to have 300 total in film for 150 guests.

I went to a wedding that did this and will be using the idea also! It was a blast. And yes, we took extra photos but we left behind quite a few. It ended up being a fun "timeline" of the reception! Our guests are mostly friends, not family so we'll have a good crowd for it. The wedding I saw it used at had a younger (17ish?) guest manning the camera for a while and helping people with the process. It worked well.

My friend's wedding did this but with a photo booth that prints 2 copies. There were instructions to put one in their scrap book and write a note, and keep the other one. The photo booth moved pretty quick and we have fun

I've got three teenage girls who are going to 'man' the photobooth. They'll be the ones printing off the pictures and putting them with the cards we'll ask the guests to fill out... and I know they'll track down people even if they don't fill out a card, so we should be able to get most of the guest photos that way.

I'll pre-print out the cards for 'fill-it-in's with choices of good date suggestions, funny stories, best wishes etc... and leave a space for the photo to get added. If they do fill in the cards and take them to the girls, they'll add the pic to it for me. If the guest doesn't fill out a card, I'll still have them round up pictures and just add the pics to a blank card... and write down names at least. Maybe I can find a fun saying for a card I give the girls that poke fun at the guests who didn't want to fill out a card for us. not sure what... nothing too mean ... but a ... "man, if we HAVE to... just take the picture already..." with a grumpy cat or something.

I wanted to do this but then I looked around for the cost of film and it is SUPER expensive. What I ended up doing was cutting printer paper in half, and letting people write their name and a message, then also doodle or draw a picture. Some people were more colorful/artsy than others, but I love all of them! I had a scrapbook from Michael's for people to slip their papers in.

I'm doing a cheaper version of this. Just putting out the scrapbook, different colored pens/ markers so they can write a note or draw a picture. And then doing the pictures myself with pro-pics and photos from my guests after the wedding.

I know some of my guest get a little crazy and I'm not really fond of drunks taking a ton of stupid pictures or getting glue places. And I dont want to have to pay for paper or for someone to "watch" the table.

I am doing this but slightly different in that I bought a photo album that specifically has a place to insert a picture into a plastic sheet the size of a photo and then next to each photo space is an area to write a note: no tape or glue or stickers needed!
So there will be the camera with film, I have a DOC who will assist if needed to make sure camera doesn't go on an adventure, Sharpe pens and the album. All they have to do is snap a pic, put it in a slip and write their note. Done!

I am doing something similar to this for our travel themed engagement party. We only have about 50 guests. Via Amazon we have already bought a scrapbook album that brought the pages (I had it on my wishlist and Amazon told be when it was on sale). Also, instead of glue (which can get messy) we opted for adhesive photo corners ($4 for 250 corners https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004ZCLV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), and just got some scrapbooking markers as well. We have had the polaroid camera for a couple of years now so we did not have to invest and for every party or dinner we host we usually by more film because they are so much fun. Also, looking back at these pictures are a blast and is another way to remember all of the fun. Also, you should feel comfortable enough with your guests so as to not fear that the camera will get lost so I don't think having somebody to be overlooking it all night is really necessary. Hope it works out for you!

I looked into doing this as well. I think you need the right guests for it. The majority of my guests are family and I don't think would find this enjoyable, so for the cost its not worth it. I personally think that buying a camera and film is a lot of money to just put toward the guestbook when a lot of guests wont use it. I also find at weddings that the family that is kind of obligated to be there, don't really participate in those fun ideas (my family at least). I think if you have a younger crown and can afford it, go for it!

Also, you can have someone there to make sure duplicates are being taken or just a cute sign saying one picture only. Hopefully your guests would be able to respect that the film is limited. Good luck!

I think this idea is so cute! My family are huge scrap bookers and would probably love this! I think the only real issue is cost, and participation. I recommend seeing about buying the film in bulk, and letting your bridal party know in advance that you need their help in getting participation.

I dont remember the name of it at all...i know Michael's has some in their photo album/frame area, but they fit 4x6 photos so would be big on polaroid/Insta size, but technically would still work.

I did a search on Amazon and found these..not the best covers, but you could always use a book cover or maybe they have one ypu wpuld like..

Found this scrapbook at Michaels that is meant to be used as a wedding guest book. There are no page protectors, so you don't have to worry about your guests fumbling with the sheets. Just decorate the cover and let your guests write right in it!
