Scratch off lottery tickets as wedding favors...

I THINK I caught a glimpse of this on four weddings yesterday in passing and it sparked the idea in my head and I really want to do it.

I'm kinda in love with scratch offs. However only when it is with someone else's money lol. It is something that I never buy for myself but I love getting them from my dad for Christmas and whatnot. So going along with that, I would personally LOVE getting scratch offs as a wedding favor. I would much rather get those and have fun at the chance of winning some money (on someone else's dime lol) then getting a knick-knack that I'll never use or some pieces of candy.

I've talked to my mom and I think we decided that if we did this the amount we would do would depend on our final guest count. I could package them up nicely and put a label that says "Wishing you riches from the new Mr. and Mrs."

Have anyone seen this done or have done it themselves? or as a guest would you enjoy getting this as a favor?

I think they are a great idea, people love to walk away with a giift that they can use, (if they win). The losers may not bee too happy, but they are excited at first, lol

I got my stickers from Etsy. And my envelopes from Ebay.

I wanted to make a lil bouquet of them, or favors, but I thought it would be a bit tacky..so I erred on the side of caution and didn't do it..think about your guests if you think it would be fine, then go for it.

If you don't want to spend the money, why not make DIY ones that just have a cute message instead? http://bridalmusings.com/2012/02/scratch-cards-save-the-date-wedding-buy-or-diy/

I think as a favor it is cool. I would like it as a guest.

Our family is big on scratch offs, every birthday and especially christmas we give scratch offs, my mom even decorates her christmas tree with them!

There is just always the constant joke that if someone wins big, you have to split the jackpot with the person who bought the tickets!

Pan X, while that is a really cute DIY, I feel that it would be kinda pointless. It would then fall into the category of "Favors that will just get thrown away." I say that knowing that the lottery favors will mostly get thrown away as well, but at least there is a purpose to it and a chance for people to win some cash.

Mrs. D my dad is like that as well. The rule in our family is anything over 50 bucks, you have to share it with the buyer.

I'm glad to see so many positive responses to this favor. I'm 99% sure that this is what we will do. Smiley smile

This is what we are doing as our wedding favors also. I love this idea rather than something someone won't take home or just throw away.
