Scratchy Lace

80kt, on July 13, 2016 at 3:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I went in for my final dress fitting today and I feel like everything is getting very real! After prancing around in my dress for about a half hour I realized that the lace is pretty scratchy at the back of my armpit. I really don't think it is a fit issue- we had to take a little in on the shoulder even. I think it's simply that the lace is stiff and new and I have very sensitive skin. Anyone with any ideas? A friend suggested bodyglide.

Following. I get red marks really easily when my skin is irritated. At my fitting my back had a nice red mark on my back where the lace met my skin. Hopefully someone has an answer!

Tell the seamstress. I had a piece of boning scratching me in the back once she took it in. I asked her about the scratchy part and she fixed it. I didn't even have to take the dress off.

Could you put baby powder or something on the spot that is irritating it?

Definitely try body glide. You can even use a clear deodorant in a pinch. One of my friends douses herself in aerosol deodorant before she runs to avoid any friction from her clothes or any skin running. Hope this helps!

Okay. I put a call in to the lady doing the alterations and see if she thinks something needs to be adjusted, or at least has a suggestion for me.

Thanks Carol! There wasn't really a purpose for me posting it- I just love it so much!

Okay- she called me back. She doesn't think it's a fit issue (I agree) but that the lace is new and therefore stiff. She said bodyglide works really well for some people and also suggested I pick up some double sided (clear) tape as a physical barrier. So I'm going to grab a roll of that and test it out on my skin next week. Kiwi- I'd double check about the fit, and then if that doesn't work maybe this will help you too!
