I said Yes to my dream dress yesterday(finally)!! The seamstress said this dress will be VERY expensive for alterations (and I'll need alot done)...one thing we are not seeing eye to eye on is the bustle. She said I need to bustle the dress because it will be so much easier to move with and so no one will step on the dress. My first wedding, my now ex husband stepped on my dress and pooped off all my buttons that held my bustle anyway, so it was pointless. I so badly want a wrist loop. Has anyone ever had a wrist loop instead of a bustle? Anyone else going that route? I'll attach a picture of my dress. Thank you!

I think we are dress twins!! It's hard to tell in the pictures though because I tried on a few that looked similar. Is this the Oleg with pockets?? Either way you look STUNNING

If so I recommend a bustle. I had to hold the dress up so my consultant could fix the bottom layer and I remember it being too much for those 3 seconds let alone all night!!

I agree with the bustle. Wrist loops are more pain than help.

Also, take your alterations somewhere other than David's. They're incredibly over priced in their alterations department and you can support a local seamstress who will most likely charge much less.

I've known a couple brides who went with a wrist loop and regretted it, saying it was very heavy and their wrist/arm was sore the next day. I suppose that really depends on how heavy your dress is though!

Is that train long enough for a wrist loop? A wrist loop seems really irritating to me but do what you think you'll like better

I had both, actually. I finally broke down and asked my MOH to bustle it because I kept getting stepped on or would lift my hands too high in my drunkenness. Get the bustle.

Listen to the seamstress. Honestly, wrist loops, even with one layer of fabric, can be annoying and look strange in pictures. Bustling is easy and once it's done you can forget about it. Just imagine holding a drink in your hand and someone accidentally bumps you. Your wrist loop will become a slip and slide for staining...

I just talked to my seamstress about a wrist loop, and she discouraged it for two reasons: since the nature of the wrist loop pulls your dress to one side, 1. you end up with a puddle of dress on the side with the loop (so still dragging) and 2. The opposite side usually ends up showing the underneath layers. That was enough to talk me out of it.

I would do whatever the seamstress recommends. She does this for a living

I would think it would be hard to dance and such with a wrist loop. I was planning to do both because we are doing a lot of pictures beforehand walking around outside and I want a wrist loop to keep it off the ground so it doesn't get dirty before my ceremony by dragging around, but a bustle for the reception to make dancing and such easier. But if something goes wrong with the bustle I have the wrist loop as a back up but I would hate to have to carry my dress around all reception on my wrist if I don't have to
