Season and colors don' t match anyone else?

Ellen, on March 20, 2019 at 10:10 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23

Did anyone else just pick colors they like even if it didn't match the season you are getting married in? we are getting married in may of 21 and we picked navy burgundy and grey as our colors.

There's no "rule" that dictates your colors or theme have to match any season. Those colors will look beautiful regardless of the time of year!

I picked my colors even though we haven't chosen a date/season yet! We are Burgundy, navy and blush! Were hoping for a winter wedding, woodsy theme

I chose my wedding date before my colors, but I don’t think you have to align colors with the season!

I think its WAY more important to pick colors you like than colors that match the season. When you look back on wedding photos you want to love your colors, not just think oh they matched the season well.

This was actually kind of important to me. I had two color schemes that I really liked, one for if we had a spring wedding and one for if we had a fall wedding. I kinda wanted to use navy and blush regardless, but just couldn’t picture that in October, so I stuck to my original plan of plum and berry for a fall wedding.

BUT...to each her own! I’m a stickler for that type of coordination, but I know many people aren’t.

I have felt the same way with my early June wedding and my color scheme of Blush, Maroon, Rose Gold, Grey, and Ivory but a lot of people have assured me it is a great color scheme no matter the season. Although there are a lot of Navy and Burgundy fall wedding there are also some great spring weddings with this color scheme!

I've always thought it was stupid to stick to colors based on seasons. We have cranberry/burgundy, plum and grey as our colors for May.

Alot of that tradition is based on fresh flower availability at the time. When you had no choice, but to go with seasonal colors.

Now a days with a lot of Brides, including myself using silk and artificial flowers you don't have to stick to seasonal colors anymore.

It's your wedding, I say stick with the colors you like.

As a floral designer, id probably suggest to add a few softer colors to soften the look and to make your chosen colors stand out.

That's only my opinion. I'm sure your wedding will beautiful, no matter what you choose.

Everyone is unique, so just go with what makes you the happiest Smiley smile

We went from a fall to winter wedding and kept the same colors. I think we had the colors before anything else. Go with the colors you both like! We are burgundy/merlot and pink/blush. It does kind of goes with our new February date, since it's the month of love/Valentine's.

Do what makes you happy - I had an October wedding, and our colors were super bright - royal blue, turquoise and purple. Season doesn't have to dictate anything (besides maybe inside vs. outside and whether or not you wear a jacket lol)

Beautiful colors. I say go with what you want! Navy blue and gray literally go with any season. I actually chose the same colors for my wedding on 10/12/19.

It is your wedding. You can pick any colors you want. The season doesn't matter. Those color sound like they will be beautiful together!! Happy Planning.

We are getting married in Feb 2020 but I wanted spring colors, pastels with rose gold shimmer and a pop of bright red burgundy. I like the more romantic softer colors for the most part, I am not really caring what season it is. I picked colors I love and think are romantic Smiley smile

I picked my favorite color--purple--and have since added accents in black and silver, long before we knew our date. We are getting married in May. I get the idea of doing seasonal colors, but what season goes with purple??? So, I'm not really concerning myself with that. It's California, so we basically have two types of "seasons", sunny or not sunny. Purple works either way. Go for what you love, regardless of season.

Yes, girl, you do you!! We are doing a tropical theme wedding in February and we live in Ohio!! We had originally hoped for a destination wedding so I had planned a lot already, when that fell through for logistical reasons (we both have huge families) I still wanted to keep everything the same. So pineapples and palm trees in February it is🍍🌴
