Seating 6, 8 or 10 at a 66” Round Table

Paige, on July 29, 2021 at 8:40 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 4
I’m doing our seating chart and wondering if seating 6 people at a 66” round table (which typically holds 8-10) will make the table feel way too big?

I have different numbers of guests at our tables as well to cater to family and friend dynamics, is it weird to have 13 tables with varying numbers of 6,8, & 10 people seated throughout?
Thanks!

This is pretty normal. I once sat at a table with just 4 of us and a child. As long as each person knows someone at their table then it’s definitely fine.

Totally fine! People don't always perfectly group themselves into bunches of 8. Honestly, with Covid, I think people appreciate the extra breathing room.

I don't see an issue with having tables with different number of guests. I'm actually on the same train as you. We were deciding the same thing. We're also mixing with round and either square or rectangle tables. Especially with covid, I doubt anyone would think it to be weird that there's extra space.

Https://www.reventals.com/blog/table-sizes-and-seating/ Has a guideline of how many they suggest per table. Based on the photo suggestions they include, your guests will be packed in like sardines with no elbow room. They suggest that a 60” table (as 66 is not one of their options) seats 8-10. I personally would err on the side of 6. Keep in mind that we are still in a pandemic with a new strain, so social distancing still needs to be a priority.

Honestly I would try to keep the number per table the same throughout, because guests will have the opportunity to get to mingle after dinner. Make sure that everyone is seated with someone they know and have things in common with.
