Seating Arrangement Board Question

Kaysey, on January 17, 2020 at 2:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hey Everyone,

My FH and I are 43 days away from our wedding. Our RSVP return date has passed and we are starting the process of making our seating chart for the reception. Here's my scenario; my FH is obsessed with the New York Rangers hockey team and to include some of his favorite things into the wedding I came up with the idea, when we first started planning, for our table's at the reception to be named after some of the best players in Ranger history and some of our current favorite players. My FH loves the idea and had so much fun picking the players for the tables with his dad (who is also obsessed with the team). The issue I'm having is, with all of the names of our tables, no matter what template I purchase on Etsy, it looks so crowded b/c instead of doing "Table 30", for example, we're doing "The Lundqvist Table". My question is; do you have any suggestions on a template to make it not look as crowded as it does? I am also open to other ideas for a seating arrangement board and any recommendations do not have to come from Etsy. I'm open to purchasing from anywhere.

Thank you for any and all suggestions!

Could you just put “Lundqvist” instead of “The ____ Table?”

What about using their jersey numbers as the table numbers, or maybe an image of the jersey if it doesn’t clash with your wedding vision.

We did escort cards that looked like hockey and baseball tickets because my husband loves sports as well. We didn't name the tables though. If you did escort cards instead of a board you could put the table information in the black box where we have all of the seating information and then underneath write table. I think escort cards would be easier.

I would just remove the word "table" or as PP said, remove "the" and "table"

I would use jersey numbers + name on the table, and just use the jersey number on the board. We used Red Wing's players at our wedding, but just the numbers, no names. My family from Texas had a heck of a time figuring out the numbering logic Smiley smile

I saw one of those on Esty. The only issue I'm having is that we are having 19 tables at the wedding. No matter which option I go with, unless it's something completely different than doing a board, I'm going to have to have 2

That's what I originally wanted to do. I had a hard time finding one for the New York Rangers that my FH liked. I'm thinking about reaching out to someone on Etsy to see if I provided the colors and images, if they could make them for us. I tried making one on my own as a tester and it turned out okay, but I want them to look more realistic.

Thank you for your response! I re-did the template I purchased from Etsy and did the name of the player and their number. It looks so much cleaner now! I just have to find a way to make my FH okay with it. He said it looks too plain on template. I might add the New York Ranger Logo to it so our guests who aren't hockey fans can make the connection. This is what it looks like right now.

The only thing is we're going to have to have two of them because we're having 19 tables,

Where are you having this printed? If your print shop recognizes the logo they might not print it for you as you do not have the rights to that logo. Is there some other quote, phrase or symbol you can use as a backup plan? Other than that looks great!
    .
This is coming from experience, partly. I once created an original design for a sheet cake that was inspired by a recognized sports logo and the grocery store really made me prove it was my original design before they printed it on a sheet cake. 😂

Great point! I'm having it printed at a place called JerriBob's in my area. I already checked with them (my grandparents know the owner), and he said it was no problem to print it
