Seating chart vs escort cards...

Nicole, on September 26, 2011 at 4:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 21

Just curious to know how everyone is approaching their seating arrangements. Wedding is 3 weeks away and need to figure out what i'll be doing. Leaning towards a seating chart...anyone have any suggestions or unique ideas?

I've never seen a seating chart. I'm doing escort cards as I believe they are easier. I found escort cards at Michaels and printed them myself on our home printer...total cost was $10 and I think they look super nice...plus they match the look of our invites and RSVP cards.

I'm doing escort cards due to the fact that we are having a plated dinner and it will allow the catering staff to know who ordered what.

I am going to be doing escort cards since we are having a plated dinner. I will be giving a list to our venue on who ordered what but marking the escort cards is easier for the server.

We were going to do the chart but I figures kill 2 birds with one stone and our favor are doubling as our escort cards. The favors all came with thank you tags but we are using the thank you cards iI made on vistaprint (got 250 free) On one side we can print the names and table #'s and the other side has the thank you message we wrote.

I'm doing escort cards, no meal choice with a plated dinner. We are having smaller versions of two different entrees because we didn't want to have the guests have to choose between two very yummy entrees Smiley smile I was going to do a seating chart but figured since I was just assigning tables, not seats, I would just need escort cards.

We are doing escort cards, but only as a way of giving another favor. We are not having assigned seating. Since our tables are named for places we have traveled on the bike, we are asking our guests to pick a riding destination. Family has reserved seating and they have place cards. The escort cards have a bike charm with a brass pin on the inside of them.

The chart is very easy and you don’t have to worry about another table being used just for cards. If you have a plated meal escort cards are a must for the catering staff. But also have an organized list for your coordinator with the seating arrangements and meals this helps to keep things smooth. Unfortunately I’ve had a caterer loose his list of whom gets the vegetarian meals versus the chicken and had to ‘save him’ but also the guests did not have their cards in front of them.

I'm doing escort cards because I'm going to color code them based on their meal choice so it's easier for the servers.

I did the chart. Very easy. and like Beatrice said, under 10 and nothing to hand write. Just took it to kinkos to print on a big piece of paper. Assigned tables, not assigned seats.

We are leaning more towards a seating chart, just because it's economical and less work for us and the reception staff.

we will have a plated dinner as well; the servers will know ahead of time which tables get vegetarian, kids meals ect. from the final count and table chart, so there's no need for escort cards

I've been wondering what we should do too for our small wedding. We have a little over 50 guests. I was kind of thinking just throw both of them out the door. All plates will be the same. Any suggestions on what others with a small wedding did?

I did a seating chart on WW (really cool since it allowed be to set up the tables using the dimensions of the room). I then plugged the names into 2 excel spread sheets. One organized alphabetically for the escort cards and the other grouped by tables for the place cards. It was then easy enough to add the favors and any special notes about dietary restrictions and it also made making edits super easy. I gave my coordinator at the hotel a copy of the setaing chart, escort card and place cards charts and it will be easy as pie for her to set everything up.

Thanks to Hayley, I got the template for the seating chart, that's what we're doing, just assigning tables not seats.

A friend offered to do our escort cards for free but I'm not sure about it yet, depending on what she got we might let her do it, if not seating chart all the way.

We're doing escort cards, but just assigning tables, not seats, per se - and (since our honeymoon is at WDW) we're naming our tables after romantic Disney couples Smiley smile
