Seating chart

Spam me with your unique and creative seating chart ideas! I’m creatively tapped for this week and haven’t even began to look at seating charts for my wedding that’s in like 24 days.

We did “Key to Your Seat” on a leaf wall backdrop we made ourselves 😊 My coordinator got an idea on the day-of to use the rest of the light string leftover from decor and wrap it on the board to give it a really pretty extra touch!

I am always a fan of escort cards over seating charts. They are much easier from both perspectives: not much effort on creativity on your part and also much easier for guests, as they can just grab their card (organized alphabetically) and be on their way. Got distracted by something or someone on your way to the table and forgot your number? Just pull the card out of your purse/pocket and take a look. With a chart, you have to then go all the way back to the chart, find your name, and then try again. Guests can also get the cards before the ceremony to avoid the rush of guests looking for their card or name on the seating chart all at the same time.

Our seating chart was over-layed on top of a photo of the two of us. People loved it! Example of not my seating chart, but similar.

We just did this foam board with our guests in alphabetical order from zazzle, we customized it to our wedding colors and I had to adjust formatting quite a bit to fit our guests names (we had a lot of B, D, S, V last names). I got it on a deal over labor day. I didn't want to spend a ton because I knew it'd just end up in the trash.

I used a template from Etsy to arrange our guest list. I enlisted my fiancé to help by using foam board, a hole puncher, clothes pins, and string. I did a terrible job trying to cover up lol, but you get the picture. Seating chart 2

We're doing a big list, in alphabetical order, that will point you to your seat. I'm a big fan of just having your name and a number next to it rather than trying to scan all the tables to find your name. Then at the table your name will be on your menu at your chair.

While our seating chart will have just table numbers, the tables will have an added silly/sarcastic name for the table. For instance, the table where all our parents are sitting is being called "The Money" while the table where all the wedding party's partners are is "Spousal Support". The one table with kids is going to have some silly name about being the alcohol free table. Stuff like that. That way when they get to their tables, our personality comes out a bit.
