Seating with covid in Mind

Chelsea, on April 4, 2021 at 9:44 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6

I'm having an outdoor wedding in June. I'm not exactly sure how to go about seating for the ceremony. Did anyone have a clever way to sit people safely?

We are seating people by household or social circle (i.e. people who we know are already within each other's bubble and are comfortable seated together). It added about 6 more tables, but we are fortunate to have plenty of room to make it happen.

We have the tables down for the reception! Not much of a problem there.

How are you doing ceremony seating?

Oh sorry, I misunderstood! Our venue is doing rows of no more than 10 spaced six feet apart. We have to pay per chair, but we added about 50% more chairs just to allow spacing between groups if people want to (we have a guest count of 85, and are renting 125 chairs).

That's what I'm looking at now. I hate to have to pay for more chairs than we actually need! Especially since they're $2/per chair!

Can you just have the required number of chairs and space all of them a certain distance apart? If people want to sit closer together (such as a couple), they can just move their chairs, can't they?

I’m also marrying in June and I’m seating guests by household or close family (family they’ve seen from time to time during the pandemic). There’s only one table that isn’t a household or close family table and it’s our friend table of 5 but we honestly don’t know where else to sit them other than with each other. But I’m hoping all will be well since testing is a requirement in my state and vaccines for 16+ are available in my state starting tomorrow. For the ceremony, we are doing the same seating. They will sit with the same people. We got out inspiration from how the venue has been posting about their socially distanced weddings online.
