Seating with picnic tables?

Zoni, on May 3, 2015 at 9:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

Okay, let's see if I can figure out how to word this so that it makes sense.

FW and I are getting hitched at a state park. Gorgeous place. We've also rented a pavilion for our reception. The pavilion comes with 10 large picnic tables, which cannot be removed from the building. That's fine, and it should be plenty of seating four our 50 - 60 guests and ourselves. However, I'm kind of curious as to how we should set up a head table. A folding table is pretty much out of the question, so we'll probably have to make use of the picnic tables, but I'm not quite sure how to do that.

Any suggestions?

I would decorate it a bit different than the others and maybe do something cute with lettering that identifies it.

I could have written this myself. What we are doing is making 1 picnic table with the cake the head table. I am bringing a seperate chair for myself to sit in, as my mom pointed out in my dress it will be hard to get into a picnic table. I am probably not even using table cloths, just center pieces(mason jars with ribbon and flowers). I have a few bows for the head table and maybe it will have a table cloth, nothing definite yet though.

I agree....just make it very different from the rest of the tables.

Just an FYI - Picnic tables will snag nice dresses and it is hard for elders to slide into them. I would have some extra chairs on hand in case grandma cannot get into the bench and you might consider covering the seats with something - it can be as simple as cutting a $2 white plastic table cloth in two an placing it over each bench so it is easier to get into the benches of a picnic table.

Why is a folding table out of the question? Your wedding sounds like my original wedding plan. Pavilion with 50 guests. I was either going to sit in a chair on the end of a picnic table or we were just gonna pick up a folding table cheap like off of craigslist since are venue was out of state.
