Second dress, Honeymoon Attire

Mariana, on September 22, 2019 at 8:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Hi, so my wedding dress has a normal train and they added a double train lifting for the reception so let's say my ceremony will be with train and party will be without it. I have an all white romper I used only once when I graduated from high school and I haven't used it ever since. I really loved it that day, and I couldn't help but wonder if I could possibly wear that romper for the reception. But I also thought I loved too much my wedding dress to just wear it for 1-2 hours final, so is it a bad idea to still wear all white to get going on your honeymoon trip? We leave Monday 6am, wedding will be Saturday and we were skipping the hotel accomodations starting from Saturday so we could stay budget friendly. We thought it would be good to just stay in the whole celebration and leave for our appartment as everyone else for their home. We would sleep it out however we needed, could fix my hair a bit and on Sunday afternoon we would just get going "chinchorreando" (puertorrican people use this word throughout the weekend to describe the people who are mostly free Saturday and Sunday jumping from local bars to other local little bars/restaurants in different towns through P.R.) throughout our island with some of our best buddies until we made it to the capital and they can drop us off at the airport so we can wait for our flight hours. Does it sound like a budget friendly decision? Is it normal or tradition for the bride and groom to leave before the party ends so they have a formal farewell? It's just we know our friends and family and the just won't let us leave. We. Just. Know. It. Also, is it a bad idea about the romper?

I don’t really understand your romper question. I would not wear a romper at the wedding, but I would bring it on the honeymoon and wear it there. I think white is a lovely color to wear regardless, but still fun to feel bridal on your honeymoon.

Also so not sure I really get what you are doing after the wedding but before the honeymoon. Just staying at home and going to bars and hanging out? It seems fine to me... smart actually to have time after the wedding to run last errands and pack. But I’d maybe still find something special to do with a honeymoon vibe... I wanna stretch out that feeling not wait several days to feel it.

The romper question is if it's okay to still wear white the next day of your wedding during final hours before your honeymoon or if it's to cliché or extra... Like a "your wedding passed, get over it and stop wearing white" sort of thought. I'm not wearing the romper during the wedding since the dress has a strap to collect the train and make it shorter. I'll wear the dress the whole night.

Our wedding is on Saturday 19th, our flight is on Monday 21st. Hotels here aren't that affordable even for one night in the capital which is where the airport is. Many tourists and high class people live there so the prices went waaaaaaay up on literally everything (even an ice cream cup/cone). We wanted something special like maybe a room with simple petals and a view, not even champagne or jacuzzi!! But even for that it was too much... unfortunately we don't have much budget to help... So we have to stay with whatever we can do to celebrate. After what's probably going to be a really long night under influence of alcohol, leaving to our home which is only 10 minutes away from our venue and actually getting some descent hours of sleep on our own bed plus double checking everything and giving us the opportunity to change into something more comfortable, seems like the most budget friendly idea we have. "Chinchorrear" in our island isn't what normally hanging out at other cities or towns is. It has its charm trust me, that's why we can't think of a better way to continue celebrating than with two other friends drinking local beverages and eating our typical local foods throughout the whole island landmarks until we make it to the capital (plus it really is a budget saver for us lol).

    Hey Mariana!

I don’t see any issues with wearing the white romper the day after your wedding Smiley smile It’s certainly not extra or cliché! If you feel good in it, definitely wear it Smiley smile

Thank you!!! I just instantly thought everyone would be with this "you're going to keep wearing white seriously?" kind of attitude and I was afraid it sounded cliché. 🥰

Believe me, when it's my turn to get married I will wear white to event including the engagement party, shower, bachelorette, rehearsal dinner and probably in everyday life for a month after Smiley laugh

If you want to keep the bridal feeling going, do it Smiley laugh
