Second Postponement

Kres, on January 20, 2021 at 12:14 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

How many times have you had to postpone? My wedding planner just informed me that our (outdoor) venue has been closed all these months with no promise of re-opening soon due to Covid. We are two months out and I'm just confused why only now we are getting word on this. I mean, I know these are uncertain times, but they would've had to know sooner. Why give a bride hope especially since we already postponed our original date. The future is hopeful, but I hear a lot of people are pushing their wedding to 2022. Maybe that's just a safer bet, as we are obviously still living in a pandemic. I'm going to be a 36 year old bride by then, LOL.

We have just postponed ours for the second time. Our original date was November 2020, which we rescheduled to November 2021. And last week we made the decision to postpone again to November 2022. As optimistic and hopeful as I’d like to be, I just don’t foresee this year returning to “normal” enough for us to have the wedding of our dreams without restrictions. Rather than continue to wait, and stress, and potentially not be able to secure our date for next year, we decided to just reschedule now while all our vendors were still available.
I know it’s frustrating that you didn’t get more advanced notice than 60 days from your venue, but unfortunately that is pretty standard during these times, when things are so unpredictable and rules/restrictions change from day today.

How do you feel postponing again? are your vendors being flexible and not charging a fee for second postponement?

We are disappointed we have to wait another year, of course; but for us it’s worth it. We just couldn’t imagine spending all that money for a wedding that was nothing like what we wanted. All of our vendors have been awesome. Every single one of them got back to us quickly and immediately moved our date with no rescheduling fees or raised rates. We are definitely going to be tipping them well after this!

We postponed our March wedding to October hopefully we don’t have to postpone again. With the way things are going here and this new strain idk if that’s even far enough yet.

I’m so sorry!! Are they willing to host you with the understanding your wedding will adhere to all regulations?

Our venue (10 days before our wedding) was like “we suggest you postpone” 😳. We made it clear we already bought masks for guests, hand sanitizer, cut our list, etc. and we will be adhering to all rules. We pushed back and were married there 10 days later. We felt like the rug was pulled out from under us.
Personal vent - it amazes me we try to keep these vendors in business to move forward and personally sacrifice. Some vendors surprisingly don’t make it easy. It’s surprising they are turning down business in these times.

My fiance and I postponed only once so far, but we postponed from July 2020 to July 2022, so we've still got plenty of time to wait.

I'm sorry that your venue didn't give you more notice!! It's possible that they were waiting until time got closer to see if they could open before your wedding, but I agree that maybe they could have sent out some info a little sooner.

I just postponed for a second time. We were supposed to get married May 15th 2021 and now we moved it to September 11th 2021. We aren’t moving it again, we also didn’t move it due to covid we decided we wanted to buy a house first and then the wedding.

We postponed once and basically timed it when there was a brief opening in the fall and had it outdoors and there were basically no restrictions. We did not want to put off starting a family much longer. We are so happy about our decision. I couldn’t imagine postponing again 😕

My sister was supposed to get married in April 2020. COVID came and she postponed to August 2020 but still got her marriage license. Late June rolled around and she postponed once again (she also found out she was pregnant around this time). The wedding was then postponed to May 2021 but it may need to be postponed once again.

Postponed 4 times then just had a minimony. The constant rescheduling was such a headache. I'm sad because I had such big visions for my wedding but these are the cards I was dealt, oh well

I can't even imagine. tbh I would completely withdraw from wedding if I could get deposits back. we're in deep at this point.
