Second thoughts on my dress

Second thoughts on my dress 1
I am having second thoughts on my dress. It’s not what I pictured. I don’t really know if I have the option of calling and seeing if they can give me store credit. My wedding is in 6 months so don’t have much time to look at more. What alterations could be done to the top if I wanted to change it? Second thoughts on my dress 2

What is it about the top that you don't like? You look lovely in your dress, but if you aren't happy with it, it might be worth it to find another dress. You could buy off the rack or get it rushed if you are willing to pay the extra fee. I think 6 months is enough time to buy a different dress if you go that route.

I guess I’m not sure about the neck line and the back of the top. I like the dress but I’m worried I am just listening to what everyone said when I tried it on or sent pictures. It’s just such a huge decision and I wish I was more confident in my choice.

Would a seamstress be able to make some alterations to turn it into a dress that you love? That may be cheaper and easier than buying a new dress! If you like everything else about it, check with a seamstress to see if they can do anything with the neckline and the back. I would make an appointment with a seamstress just to get some info on what they could do, and how much it would cost. That way, you'll have more info to make a decision whether to do the alterations, or start looking for a new dress.

I agree with this! Ask a seamstress before buying a new dress!

If you don't like how the back is see though, as them if they could add lining to the back of it! It's pretty strapless, but you could also ask them if adding spaghetti straps, or capped sleeves just to give it a little something!

Add some sparkly bling! Like a belt. Or add mid length sleeves!!

I’ve thought about asking her to add some lace to the shear parts of the back. Do you think that would look good? Maybe like some small lace flowers.

I'm not the hugest fan of lace, but you could always have her place some spare fabric behind it so you could see what it would look like! If you like the way it looks sampled, then go for it! This is what I could find as far as a floral/lace with the boning!

Thank you! That gives me a good idea of what it could look like in the back. For the top, it’s the added point that I’m unsure about. I like it but it’s also a little out of my comfort zone.

    You're welcome!

Are you talking about the little point on the left side of the dress top (in the photo)? I would also suggest asking your seamstress to maybe pin it down and let you try it on to see how you like it without the point. I feel like that detail is so small of a point though that it won't be TOO much of a difference.

Yes it’s not too prominent and I also plan on wearing my hair down so I’ll do that at my next fitting. I think adding some lace to the back would make a huge difference. I pictured a lace dress initially but didn’t like the way they looked on so maybe just a hint of lace would work!

I hope it works out well! I'm sure adding the lace will make you feel a lot more comfortable with your dress choice, plus it'll add the lace detailing that you originally wanted!

Just second guessing the top. I want to add maybe some lace to the back but not sure what my options are with the front of the top. How much could the neckline change?

Did you fill the back with lace? - what did it look like?
