Secrets Maroma Beach - Cancun, Anyone Been Here?

Allie, on September 15, 2014 at 4:10 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

Hi! We just booked our Honeymoon at Secrets Maroma Beach (Cancun)! We're really excited! We're going April 6-13, 2015! Has anyone been there or been during those dates? Also, did you have a problem with the water? Is it okay to use their ice? What kind of activities did you do? We are thinking about doing the Zip-Lining in the forests, deep sea fishing, and snorkeling! How was the food, drinks, and overall service of the hotel? Please fill us in on your experiences and activities and how the weather was like there! THANKS EVERYONE!

I went to Cancun a few years ago in August but but stayed at another resort. It was really hot and humid but as long you stay near the pool or ocean you should be fine. For water, I would only used their water to shower. We brushed our teeth with bottle water. We loved snorkeling and suggest you do it in the Caribbean sea as the water is so much calmer almost like a wave pool. We also did the sunset cruise very romantic and their pirate excursion (I had to give in to FH).

We also went to Puerto Vallarta at the end of March and the weather was beautiful and not as humid but I live in Chicago so I'm used to the humidity.

I'm going to Secrets Maroma beach for my honeymoon Oct 27-Nov 6 Smiley smile I CANNOT WAIT. Join the facebook group "Secrets Maroma beach travelers" It's all posts from people who have gone with tips/photos/etc. The resort looks GORGEOUS. I asked about the water on the facebook group, and everyone says they give you plenty of bottled water and it's safe to drink. I'd like to find an excursion to go snorkling in some caves, and to see the Mayan ruins. According to other travelers, service is the best in the world, and it's just overall amazing. I will try to remember to come back and fill you in when I come back!!!!!

I was in a destination wedding there. I did get super sick (I did drink a lot of blended drinks, and didn't brush my teeth with the bottled water) so I guess that was my bad. Honestly, I didn't have that great of an experience, but that was management's fault, the staff was great, the French restaurant is my favorite. I went the first week of July.

This is my our number one pick for honeymoon if we choose Mexico. I have done a ton of research and it seems to be GREAT. One of my bridesmaids took her honeymoon there this past June and could not say ENOUGH amazing things. I am pretty certain we will be heading there!

Been to Cancun many times but not that resort. Yes, you can drink the water and use the ice but don't if you have a nervous stomach.

Lots to do. Cancun is a lot more "American" than other cities in Mexico - so if you can get out to the Mayan ruins (and you like that sort of thing) go for it. You'll see a truer Mexico the farther you get from Cancun--which some like and many don't. Either way, have a great time!

Thanks Everyone! All the responses definitely help! Kristyn let me know how it all goes down! Especially since your hotel is already booked! Rachel thanks for the input, lol... I tend to get blended drinks, so I will definitely be more cautious! Courtney - yeah! we were going to pick Puerta Vallarta but it looked a little boring for our taste (too laid back). Smiley winking We heard about the Mayan Ruins were looking for excursions/transportation there, everyone has been telling us to goo because its a great experience!

We too are looking for something where we can relax but also lots of activity and excursions. Ive been on many cruises to almost all of the caribbean islands ( all are wonderful) but wanted an all inclusive where we have the option to do a variety of things. I am very excited about seeing the Mayan Ruins as well!

I swear I was thinking about making this same post yesterday! My best friend went to this resort for his honeymoon and said it's simply beautiful! I googled it yesterday and it's a little pricey. $2500 for 5 days. We're still researching honeymoon spots. Not sure this will be it b/c of the price, but I'd love to go one day.

Soooo I'm Back from Secrets Maroma Beach..and SOOO SAD ABOUT BEING BACK!!

IT WAS AMAZING. Seriously--all the good reviews you read are true.

The food, service, ENTERTAINMENT STAFF, housekeepers, waiters, waitresses, concierges are all SO NICE. Hola, hola they say whenever passing by you.

Didn't get sick, but my husband (weird to say!) has a very sensitive stomach, so the last few days his stomach was upset but it didn't stop him from enjoying the food.

    To answer your specific questions:

Bottled water is everywhere there, just don't drink the tap. We used bottled water to brush our teeth just to be safe. The ice is fine, and all soft drinks and mixed drinks on the resort are fine as well.

We went off resort for one day. We did the tour of Tulum (Mayan Ruins) and then Xel-HA which is a natural aquarium where you can snorkel in a cove. There is also ziplining there (into the water) and a ropes ocurse and lazy river. Food and drink are included in admission price. Dont drink the water there. Authentic Mexican food is great there! We booked the day after we arrived through our travel agency.

Food was amazing. I am a vegetarian and had no proiblems finding food to eat. Room service is fantastic- use your secret box it is amazing! They put the food for reoom servie in there and you can get it from your locked side of the box, and when you are done you put your dishes in there and they come pick them up.

We did room service for breakfast the first 2 days which was amazing to wake uop and order what we want. But then ew discovered the world cafe breakfast buffet. SO GOOD. So many choices and options and it is all presented so wonderfully. Highly recommend for breakfast!!! Also got iced coffess at the coco cafe after breakfast Smiley smile

The French restuarant was fantastic (French onion soup and the fondue were my fave)> My husband loved the duck and the steak. Honestly all the restaurants were good.

Be sure to see the Beatles Show and the Rock show, also the Fire show!!! Entertainment was on point, so good and so worth going to see the shows. Durin the day I played pool volleyball with the entertainment staff and other guests..very entertaining and fun!! The beach was gorgeous, everything was truly perfect. We are contemplating booking our first anniversary there we enjoyed it so much.

Let me know if you have any other questions!! I could go on for days about this place!!!
