Security guards?

How many of you hired security guards? Just curious I have noticed that most weddings I go to don't have any . I hired 2 just because I know my FH uncles tend to act some type of way when intoxicated and I ain't having it.

Celia you probably didn't notice as they are plain clothes and blend right in with guests. 1 per 50 people is standard if there is alcohol.

I've never heard of this before. Interesting. My venues have not mentioned it either. Will have to check.

Our venue required having a security guard if alcohol was served and the price of the security was included in the venue price

I have never heard of having security guards at a wedding unless it was part of the venue. I guess you learn something new everyday! Lol

Our venue requires security. The venue secures an off duty officer and we pay the officer directly.

We are considering it but only because we are getting married in Salem Massachusetts in October. Thousands of tourists from all over the world flock there every year and our venue is in the heart of it all. It's why we chose it (we love the city and Halloween!) but it means lots of people coming in and out, and we don't want crashers or issues. It was recommended by our venue, but not required.

Hi, Letti! I know it's been over two years since you posted your comment, but it was incredibly helpful for me. I'm starting a wedding venue of my own and was trying to figure out why some venues require security guards. This helped point me in the right direction. Do you have any resources you could throw my way? Thanks!
