Self-Care Before The Wedding

MsRiahToMrsP, on June 2, 2017 at 10:59 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 20

What are some of the ways you plan to or have stayed healthy physically/mentally/emotionally in the weeks before the wedding? How did you have fun? With all of the stress of planning a wedding almost over I want to make sure I take care of myself so I'm at my best!

Do my best to go to the gym after work at least 3 nights a week, not eating foods that make me bloated as much (pasta, coffee, etc.), and I still make sure my life doesn't revolve around wedding planning aka make time for yourself & fh/friends.

I think it is so important to optimize your nutrition for so many reasons. I am also really big on routine medical check ups. The gym is my stress relief. I would not try anything new beauty wise this close to your wedding though.

Christy I am not big on the whole getting a facial. I think monthly is a bit much.

Therapy. Literally. It was a requirement of mine before some recent events, but I have told Df repeatedly I will not marry him until I am in therapy, he is, and we are. We both carry scars from prior past relationships, and we deserve to start our marriage on the strongest foundation possible.

Massages always make me soooo peaceful. If I can, I plan to get a massage the day of the wedding. I'm in such a zen state afterwards so that's what I plan to do if timing works out.

I did a spa day with hubby, date night where we didn't talk about anything wedding-stress-related, a few nights of wine after work, and I took the time to reflect and write down positive notes in my wedding scrapbook/notebook.

Does anyone have tips for self-care the night before the wedding or even after the wedding?

@MNA Haha! Love it. I would totally go with that for a stress reliever, but there's just one problem...we both saved ourselves for marriage. I know that choice sounds SO lame to most people and it's going to make them feel some type of way, but different strokes for different folks. Lmao

Although we're in the very early stages of planning, my fiancee and I make sure we have date night every other week where there is no wedding talk and we try to make the whole evening really intimate and relaxed.

I make sure I spend time with my bridesmaids, checking in how their life is and making sure I'm not all wedding talk...by distracting yourself with their lives you're killing two birds with one stone!

For time by myself, I try to keep it as low cost as possible as I don't want finances adding to the burden, I get a nice bottle of wine and sit in the tub for hours watching Grey's Anatomy or I'll hit an intense Pilates class which leaves me feeling good physically and mentally (however given the choice the bath always wins!)

Reading previous comments about pet cuddles makes me sad I don't have a squishy little friend to snuggle!

My brand new go to is kickboxing! Punching a bag is surprisingly really good for relieving stress, I never would have thought!

@MRtMP my FH and I have also saved ourselves for marriage! Nothing lame or weird about that in my opinion! (:

Keep going to the gym, yoga, book a pedicure and/or massage...and be sure to book some non-wedding date nights and hangouts too!

My plan is to just exercise a couple days a week, whiten my teeth, sleep as much as possible, drink lots of water and to just relax. I have a hard time doing that so hopefully I'll find a way to make it easy to do.

Exercise, I've cut soda out of my diet, do crest whitestrips. try to stay hydrated and use lots of sunscreen. I did have a moment last week where I gorged on beer and cupcakes and I'm trying really hard not to do that again!

Avoiding as much sugar as possible. . Its helped me lose weight and not crave sugar nearly as much. When I want sugar I have a smoothie or eat fruit. Meal prepping helps too. Also trying to work out more but not going too crazy with it. Working out first thing in the morning to get it done. Working out with friends and having standing work out dates. It really motivating for us! Doing lots of pilates, spinning, cardio, HIIT classes and trying to keep it fun. Kickboxing is great too. Going to bed earlier and snuggling with my cat.
