Yup, looking to have a constructive discussion on this one. With the sole reason of why the heck would you want to spend that much time on the day of your wedding cooking, why do people think this is such a big deal? We hosted a party for 230 guests in September and my fiance and I catered the whole thing ourselves. I'm a coupon guru, so we served the following: snacks all night- chips, kettle corn, sliced cheese and crackers, veggies, ranch dip, and hummus, two hot entrees- pulled pork on a bun, daal (vegan/gluten free) with rice and green beans, and for dessert we had various cookies plus two cakes.

Final bill? $400, and we had so many leftovers we were giving them away. Yes, that's less than $2 per person. I saved about $1000 with coupons and watching for sales.
