Self-serve Alcohol vs Hiring Bartending

Tara, on May 15, 2017 at 1:37 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 33

I am feeling torn between if we should have self-serve alcohol or paying extra to hire someone to come in and serve. The company we are looking at to serve as insurance. I have read a lot about self-serving and being liable if something were to happen. I also do not want people to get out of hand and drink whatever, whenever. Thoughts?

Hire a pro. That takes any liability off of you. Pros will know when to cut people off if needed

Hire a bartender. Why would you want to be liable if something were to happen?

I think for liability reasons, you should hire someone.

I mean, you really answered your own question in your post. What are you second guessing about hiring a bartender?

Please hire a bartender. If someone gets in their car after having a few too many at your wedding, you are absolutely liable. Trust me, it's worth the extra money.

Team bartender. Even if every single guest is over 21, you need someone to be able to regulate it and not over serve. By having a licensed bartender to man the bar, your event will be less of a casual event and you will have less liability of someone decides to get behind the wheel.

You should hire a bartender. Many venues require that anyway.

Hire a bartender. Comes with insurance and peace of mind people won't go crazy and you don't have to worry. Totally worth it.

As the others have said....hire the bartender. Not only will they have insurance, they are also pros who know when to cut someone off, and they know how to properly serve beverages. You will also go through less alcohol as guests can tend to be heavy handed.

Please keep in mind that you should also have liability insurance (from your homeowners or renters insurance). If someone sues, they will go after everyone. Protect yourself.

    No no no.

Professional and licensed bartender. Your friends do not know how to pour correctly.

    - DUIs

    - Deaths to others and guests from wrecks.

    - Alcohol poisoning.

    All falls back on you.
