Breanna, on June 14, 2020 at 11:01 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

Hi all! This is totally random but I am looking for a self tanner to use before our wedding day. I am aftican american and I have never used self tanner before. My wedding is at the end of July and I know between now and then I will have some crazy tan lines no matter how hard I try to stay covered up so I will need something to even out my skin tone Smiley smile Please let me know what products you use have used and any tips or techniques! Thank you!!!

I use Fake Bake darker, but you may only need to use the original fake bake if your tone is naturally darker. It is super important with any self tanner to exfoliate the crap out of your skin! I mean exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate! If you have to shave your legs or any part of your body do it the night before. Never shave right before you use self tanner. I would exfoliate and shave everything the night before and don’t use any lotions or oil base products.

St tropez is also a good one but it takes much longer. Fake bake is pretty instant

Thank you for your response! How long after use do I need to be concerned about it transferring onto clothes?

Well I definitely wouldn’t wear any white the first 10 hours you use it. It takes about 1 hour to fully dry. I’d say a good 24 hours or over night to be safe with wearing white. Its water proof as well and only gradually fades with showers unless you exfoliate its off.

I self tan on a weekly basis and would recommend that you experiment with a few different ones. the best, most expensive ones are st tropez, fake bake, and loving tan. some cheaper alternatives are st moriz, b tan, and the new ulta tanners. i suggest mousses because they are easiest to work with, but the fake bake spray works wonders as well (ive used a ton and have self tanned for just about ten years - fake bake is the only spray ive found that is practical and easy to use). i say buy a few and apply them each with a mitt on different weeks to see which works best/gives off the best color for you. shave and exfoliate a day or two prior to applying self tan, and, like i mentioned previously, make sure to apply with a mitt for easy and effortless application because spray tan hands are the worst lol. i usually follow the instructions on the back for when i am able to dress. the standard is one minute to five minutes before getting dressed, but sometimes i throw my clothes on and head to bed as soon as im done and it doesnt negatively affect the tan. i wouldnt wear white until after you shower (you will be so happy to shower because self tanner makes your skin slightly sticky), and even then some still rubs off on clothing. it does, however, wash out of clothing pretty easily. wishing you the best of luck!!! 💕

I really like tan towels. You can find them at Ulta. I think they blend nicely but it’s only subtle color—not super dark.
