Selling stuff after the wedding

Leeann, on August 4, 2017 at 2:54 PM Posted in Married Life 0 17

How many of you sold any of your wedding-related items after the wedding? What did you sell and what sites did you use? I'm thinking of selling my wedding dress and veil and a few other things. I'm on some Facebook yard sale groups but was wondering what everyone's experiences were.

I bought stuff on Craigslist. White umbrellas and vessels for centerpieces. Also sold few wedding dresses I bought super cheap. The selling part was a hassle because they had to try the dress on in my home. I didn't like that.

I'm selling stuff on the wedding swap pages on Facebook and craigslist. I'm not married yet but I posted stuff to see who would be interested.

I'm trying to! I have a card box I made, flower girl basket and table numbers carved out of wood. No takers yet but I'm hoping! Still on the fence about the dress. Maybe selling my shoes.

I'm on two, somewhat local, FB Wedding Resale groups...this is where I'll plan on selling stuff afterwards.

I have actually seen several listings on LetGo for wedding dresses and decorations. Craigslist in my area has a bad reputation for sketchy stuff, but I know a few people that have had good experiences with LetGo. It is becoming pretty popular here now, maybe it is doing the same where you are.

I plan to sell my decor on a local facebook page. Keeping the dress and having it preserved.

I see a lot on facebook marketplace. People treat that like a yardsale though so be prepared for lowball offers.

I see lots of stuff being sold on my local yard sale sites. There's also a WW Bride to Bride page.

I'm on several FB local pages and the WW bride to bride page. Cracks me up when I see people on there selling stuff that I've seen in their BAM.

What I'm finding though is that most items are priced too high. I realize they've only been used once, but I've seen things listed for the same price I can buy new. I might be cheap, but when I buy off these groups I won't pay more than 75% retail for something that is new/not used, or 50-60% for used. What I find gross though, are the dress posts that say, "worn once, needs cleaned". No thanks, lol.

    Good luck selling!

My work email has a "Want Ads" forum where people can post things they're selling and that's how I've gotten a lot of my decor. Plan to do the same thing when I'm done!

A lot of my decor like my seating chart, card box. I bought knowing I will use them in my house. My seating chart is a memo board that I plan to use in my kitchen. Even my card box I might use it as a picture box. As far as centerpieces I am doing a centerpiece giveaway at the reception they are lanterns so I am sure people will love them. I would never sell my dress that is so personal to me but if that's what you want go for it. I'm just thinking about years to come 10,20plus looking at the dress again and trying it on and would feel regret if I sold it.

My mother is a saint and organized and listed all of our leftover wedding stuff (and leftover stuff from my sister's and brother's wedding too...we had 3 family weddings in 3 years). She's using Craigslist, mostly. It depends on where you are. FB marketplace doesn't work well where she lives, strangely, but I sold tons of stuff on it when I lived in Savannah.

My dad also works at a small religious college where a lot of students get married before or immediately after graduation. So far she's sold lots of stuff to those students.

I'm keeping my dress. I'd actually not mind selling it, but H really, really wants me to keep it, so that's the plan right now.

I have, I already sold a couple of things. All I'm trying to do is get rid of wedding things in the house.

I'm trying to only purchase decor and other items that I'll be able to use after the wedding or put in my home so I don't have to do this lol.

I will probably to sell my wedding dress though. I'll have to think about it. It's sentimental, but I don't know if it's worth keeping in a closet forever.
