Send off

Ashley, on April 15, 2021 at 2:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Did anyone do a send off even if there staying at the venue for that night? Even though i would love to have a sparkler send off I feel awkward having it if I’m just walking around the side back to the venue.
What would y’all recommend? 😅

Most couples to a fake send off and don't actually leave! It's done mostly for pictures and to ensure that any guests that want to leave early get a chance to 'send you off'.

Go ahead and have one! They make for really pretty pictures!

You can still stage an exit. You're exiting the reception space. I used to see this all the time when I worked at a hotel with a convention center. The couple got the honeymoon suite complimentary the night of the wedding, but they would still do an exit - usually from the convention center doors, and then they'd walk across the courtyard to the elevator.

Double check that your venue allows sparkler send offs and that your photographer will do them.

I've known several photographers who have it in their contracts that they will not shoot them due to dangerous conditions, and both venues I worked out prohibited them as well.

I've been to 2 weddings where they had a scheduled fake send off! It was around 9pm ish, and the DJ announced that they were going to do a send off but that the party wasn't over. They did it for the pictures and to get everyone out of their seats. Then afterwards the couple ran back through the people into the reception again and the DJ played awesome dance music and it felt like the night got exciting and lively again!

We would do that but at the time at the send off everyone has to leave cause 10 minutes after the venue closes. 😭 But that is a good idea!

We did our "send off" in the middle of our reception and came right back in to dance and party more lol. All of our guests had to travel a minimum of 1 hour to get to our wedding. I wanted those that chose not to stay the night to be a part of the send off photos. I didn't feel weird about it at all.
