sending out invites through ups

The_New_Mrs_D, on February 28, 2013 at 6:06 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

Has anyone ever done this? My hubby swears they would be cheaper then buying stamps from usps. I haven't gone over to UPS yet to ask, if been in bed with a headache, so I thought I'd ask here first. Thanks girls.

That's what I was thinking. But I have to get $60 worth of stamps from usps. He isn't happy about that.

I can't possibly imagine that it would be cheaper. Let us know what you find out, but I think the post office is still gonna be the best bet.

The cheapest you'll send anything UPS is $7. And that would be to the next city over. If you need to ship across country you're looking at about $15. This issue is that on ground shipments they bill by pound. So even if you're invite only weighs 3oz you'll be charged for the 1lb rate. I ship things almost every day. USPS will defiantly be cheaper.

Are your invitations not cards in envelopes? Even shipping boxes via usps is less expensive than ups. I can't imagine sending individual cards via ups.

Thank you for the information. No our invites are cards in envelopes. At the post office they said it would cost 86 cents to send one. I'll just have to tell him to suck it up.

I used to be a personal assistant and had to send various packages and letters on a regular basis... my boss always insisted that I check UPS, USPS, and Fedex to get the best possible shipping price.

Long story short, USPS is always cheaper than UPS until your package reaches about 5 lbs (after that it depends on how far you are shipping the package).

Thank you everyone. Once I get my phone call from the hubby ill let him know. I didn't think they would be cheaper. He just isn't happy that we have 40 invites each invite needs two stamps plus the stamp we put on the response card.

Even the UPS flat envelopes are several dollars - and they charge by distance to it just goes up from there...

honestly, $60 in stamps is NOTHING. our postage was over $200. don't forget the postage for the rsvp envelope as well.
