Separate ceremony and reception?

Michelle, on February 12, 2022 at 6:29 PM Posted in Planning 2 4
Hi all! Need some feedback… my FH mother is immunocompromised and with Covid we are trying to do more non traditional so she may be apart of everything. Is it wrong to do a small ceremony with immediate family, grandparents and our close friends (bridal party) and then a very casual “celebration” the next day? And then invite everyone we would have wanted there to that?

Would it be better to host the same day? I’m not sure what to do!

They should be hosted the same day. It’s inconvenient especially if someone has to travel to have events on different days. Live-streaming is an option if someone is unable to attend for health issues.

I had a cousin who did this. Her and her now husband got married at the courthouse chapel with their parents and siblings and that Saturday they had a big reception. It was really lovely, they even had the ceremony playing on a TV by the bar.
