Separate makeup artist and hair stylist

Lexi, on December 5, 2018 at 9:33 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 12

Did you book a makeup artist/hair stylist through one company, or through two separate companies? I'm debating whether or not I should book one, or two separate ones (either way they will be traveling to my venue). The reason I'm saying two separate ones, is because I'm not finding a makeup artist that I like the hair and vice versa.

*Sidenote* If I book two separate ones, do they usually work well together? I don't want one to get angry that they're cramping the space of the other and so on. (I've never experienced booking two separate one's so I don't know how it'll work).

I booked them separately. If you can find a place that offers both, more power to you. No one can really answer if they are going to work well together; that depends on those particular individuals that you hire for your wedding day.

I chose to find somebody who did both to avoid having that drama.
What you could is if you find one who you really like, ask her if she can recommend the other that shes worked with well.

I am booking them separately since my usual hairstylist doesn’t do makeup.

Same here. I don't trust anyone else to do my hair other than my regular stylist.

I wanted one person for both, in my mind it was one less thing to juggle. I also found it tended to be more cost effective

I booked one company and they had certain artists that only did hair and others that only did makeup. There were 4 or 5 different girls working on me and all my bridesmaids the morning of my wedding.

I booked mine together so it was 1 less vendor I had to manage, but if you can’t find one who suits your needs, then I think it would be fine to book them separately.

I like the PP’s suggestion to book one you like and ask their recommendation for who they e worked with in the past.

I booked my pros separately. I trust my MUA to only do my make up.

How big is the space you have to get ready? If it is large enough to accommodate both of them then I say go for the two you love. If it's already a pretty small space though I could see them fighting over an area to set up

Mine is through one small company, but I looked at several that were separate! If they only specialize in one, I assume they quite commonly work with others and are totally fine.

I had been hoping to hire one company to do both (whether it was one person who did both, or two), but found a MUA who I really liked and wanted to use, so I looked for a separate hair stylist.
