Sephora or Ulta makeup?

I've used both, I prefer Sephora but it really depends on the artist. I think $50 for makeup is pretty reasonable.

I would recommend Sephora ****x over Ulta. There are some skilled artists at Ulta, but in my experience, they're few and far between. The price is also higher and all you're paying for is makeup application. At Sephora, the application is actually free as long as you spend $55 on products. When I've had my makeup done there, I've always gotten false lashes so those you automatically have to pay for, then I buy whatever lip product they use on me so that I can reapply. That usually leaves me with about $30 to spend which isn't difficult there.

I would actually recommend a department store! Most of the people who work at the makeup counters are trained cosmetologists.

Wow! so you can then keep some of the products used! that does sound way better... and yeah spending $50 at sephora takes me like 5 min do you need an appointment?

Yes, you typically have to have an appointment.

If your Ulta has a Mac makeup you can purchase the products too rather than just paying for applications.
I used them for a makeup trial and I was pretty happy with the application itself, but the experience otherwise was kind of annoying. The girl who I was scheduled with cancelled and I had the manager do it. But she was the only manager on duty so she had to constantly leave. The 60 minute session turned into like 90 minutes and I had someplace to be -_-

My FMIL had her makeup done at a makeup counter prior to my bridal shower. It looked great.

I have used Sephora several times for makeovers, but appointments tend to book up really quickly. If the party is next weekend, I would check ASAP to see if anything is available. Sephora also has mini-makeovers, if you're just looking for help with part of makeup application. The mini makeovers are just 15 minutes.

I have used Ulta for my engagement party and engagement photos hair/makeup. I am awful at both! I found them very affordable and reasonable for the price!

Madison Ave is another option

I actually went to Ulta for my wedding day makeup! They did an amazing job and it stayed on all day!
