Sephora or Ulta - Who has the better makeover?

Hi All! I want to do a trial makeover, but I'm not sure where to go. I hear a lot of pros and cons regarding makeovers at Sephora and Ulta. Which one would you ladies recommend? (I'm also open to any other suggestions of places to go. ) Thanks in advance!

Sephora, 100%. I'm a Rouge with them, and I get my makeup done all the time. Keep in mind, you will still need to buy $50 in products, each time you go and get it done. However--if you find someone you really like, you can get their card and ask to specifically book them for day of.

I've had my makeup done at Sephora and Mac. Both turned out great.

Sephora sounds like it would be the best option for a highly professional finish.

Sephora over Ulta, mac or Nordstrom over both. A lot of people at sephora are not qualified at all, so just be careful

    Hi Everyone-

So, update....I ended up going to Sephora for the makeup trial. While the gal that did my make up was very sweet and taught me a lot about how to apply things like concealer properly ( I'm more of a mascara and go type of gal, so this isn't really my forte) I ended up looking like a ghost. My foundation was waaaaay too light and very cakey. I would have said something about that sooner, but I didn't notice how light the foundation was until I left the store and was in natural lighting, and my sister mentioned that I looked like one of the Wayans brothers in the movie White Chicks ...gotta love siblings. I'm not knocking Sephora though, my experience was actually great. I liked the gal that did my makeup and I loved the way she did my eyes and lips, I would have just preferred a more natural tone for my foundation. All that being said- I still would like to try some other places.

I never even thought of Sephora. I've had my makeup done at Ulta by 2 different artists and loved it. I even have my niece get her semi and prom makeup at the Ulta in a different state. I've never had any issues. I would try both if they aren't too expensive and make a selection that way. Just make sure you can book with the same artist.

Sephora! They can do simple and glam. Mac tends to be very glam! So it's all about what you want

For those of you who went to Sephora, did you make an appointment or just walk in? I want to go there the day of my wedding to do my makeup.

I made an appointment- just to be safe. I would definitely make an appointment if you want to go day of your wedding. That way, even if you end up cancelling for whatever reason, it wouldn't be a big deal. You don't want to get there and risk not having someone be available on your big day!

Go to Sephora, and go to a big store in a popular place. They tend to have really talented MUAs. If you go to one in JcPenneys they tend to be less strict on who they hire.

I worked at Sephora in college.

Definitely make an appointment. They will usually stick you with someone talented and you won't be "stuck" with anyone who is not great because someone is on lunch/break etc.
