In my opinion (I'm a newbie too), the first and only thing to do is to get your date set! So decide on your budget and book your venue and go from there! You can't book any vendors without a venue and date.

I'm getting married in September and just sent out my save the dates this morning. I've heard a ton of different views on the proper time to send out, but with SO many brides rescheduling to this year, I wanted to go ahead and make sure my date was known to my guests. I would say send the STDs out around 8 months out? In the meantime, I would focus on a budget, chosing your venue, choosing your party, and maybe some engagement pictures and party! The fun stuff! Since you have a good while to really plan!

You can send save the dates 12 months in advance for a destination wedding or 8ish months in advance for a local wedding.

I'd get started on the budget, approximate number of guests, and book a venue to get your date set. I'm getting married a month before you and have noticed everything filling up fast in my area for 2022 so I went ahead and booked the venue/caterer, officiant, photographer and DJ.

Generally the STDs get sent around 10-12 months out (I was excited & sent mine at the 12 mth mark). I love WW for these forums but stayed from purchasing or using WW as my website- seen a lot of people having issues with it. I use The Knot as my website & LOVE the wedding checklist! Been a life saver with keeping me on track & keeping me centered as I was all over the place with planning!

I'm getting married September 2022 as well! I will probably be sending my STD's out about 10-12 months out, will probably choose the 12 month as we're getting married Labor Day weekend, and I don't want people to possibly make other plans especially with everyone in my state being eligible for COVID Vaccines by May of this year, I feel that people will want to travel and make up on missed time.

Agree with PPs on timing — January of 2022 would be great if you want to avoid the holiday mail.

We got out save the date magnets from Simply to Impress and loved them!
